Okay been a couple years since I started my own thread but here goes...

I sound stack my drums (kick and snare) to beef up the sound.
what I do now is use autosnap or Melodyne to get the midi track of just the kick (or snare)

once copy the midi notes for the kick to a midi track, I then use this midi track to trigger session drummer or rapture, Dim Pro. I then freeze the sample and copy it to an audio track.

is there an easier way to do this ?
I mean I have the midi notes, I have the kick sample.
seems like a lot of steps to produce 1 sample track.

However id like to add that IF there is not an easier way to do this...
then im still grateful for the technology today to be able to do this in the first place,
thanks everyone.

Would drum replacer be better.

I've not used it for awhile, but would have thought it was your best bet.

Wouldn't the drum replacer handle most of that? It would take creating custom sfz files for the samples. Or use the sfz files created for the current solution.

Drag a clip from an audio track to a midi track that has it's output set to a vsti. How could it get any easier? That's a little over simplified, you may need to fine tune the midi notes in the prv but wow.....this is so convenient. Thank you Cake and Celemony for living in harmony and making the world a better place.

I have used Drum Replacer for something's but it doesn't handle velocity's well.
it takes a long time to fine tune the Filter + Interval knobs.
not as much as if I use audiosnap or Melodyne.
im guessing its probably the same engine, im not sure why but its just not as effective.
*Jb101, thanks man ;-)

this is typically what im doing. creating the midi notes is not the problem.
its loading up a synth for 1 sample.
thank you though.

Chuck , it really does sound like you are doing it the hard way if you are using melodyne or audio snap,
-generate a drum vst, with a sample or  whole kit  you like
-create the drum replacer region , fine tune , the filter
( maybe I was lucky but this did not take long on the kick track)
-drag the region to the vst track ( you may have to change midi note)
-blend to taste.
Just wanted to make sure you were understanding what Rocky was saying.

I usually just clone the original midi track, delete all the drums other than the snare and kick, and then load up another VST to play those two drums.  Takes no time at all.

Alternatively I use AD2, and they have "Flex" kit pieces that can be linked to either snare or kick.  I always use two snares and two kicks there, and it sound huge.

too inconsistent. drum replacer is great for replacing drums with all the same dynamics / velocity's.
but when your drums are soft in one part, a little louder in another, then louder in another, there are many dynamics to be reasoned. the second you drop the Decibel line to pick up the lower DB drum, it starts picking up everything, you can fine tune the filter but there's only so much it can do.
again, my issue is not with the "creating a midi track".
its loading up the sampler for 1  kick sample.
the filter on DR might be great for one type of dynamic, but not for 5 different types.
see what I mean ?
thank you for your advise. I mean that.

that's what I do too. it doesn't take too much time, though that can be debated :-)
looks like im doing what every one else is.
