In BFD, you can stack drums within the BFD page.

Only problem is they come up on the same track so you cannot treat them differently with EQ and/or Dynamics

I pretty much do what you already do too Chuck. The upside of loading a vsti (I use superior drummer) is that you have amazing control over velocity curves, mics etc to chase down the sound you want. Worth the extra time IMHO:)

Yeah, AudioSnap is the way to go for this kind of thing, unless you use something like Drumagog (which is excellent but fiddly because the threshold detection needs to be automated. This is why Drum Replacer isn't a viable option yet, as you've discovered). AudioSnap lets you convert to MIDI which gives you ultimate control and easy editing with the MIDI data, rather than screwing around with trying to mask missed or double audio hits.

I talk about it a bit in this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3388461

Cheers, man - lots of great discussion from everyone in there, I think :)

Slate Digital Trigger is another option but limited to Slate's samples which are awesome but not free. Xln's Addictive Trigger is pretty cool as well and works with any AD Paks you already own.

Wasn't there another cheap (free?) one called APTrigger? I don't think it was as feature rich as Drumagog from memory, but would do the job with sample stacking quite fine.

the more I play with drum replacer, the more I begin to like it.
it isn't as accurate as I would like as some hits seem harder then others
(even with the dynamics knob cranked  off 0%)
but its been doing the job as of late. the more I get used to it, the more I see. the more I likey.

I have to say between Vocal synch, Melodyne and Drum Replacer, those 3 are in my "go to"
fix it maintenance tool box.

Dim pro also has some nice samples included that ive been freezing / copying to another track.
thanks to all for the great advise.

Wouldn't the drum replacer handle most of that? It would take creating custom sfz files for the samples. Or use the sfz files created for the current solution.

I've found Drum Replacer to be unreliable and basic.

that's what I was alluding to in my earlier posts but after spending more time with it, im not sure there is a better detection software out there than DR.
if you have any suggestions im all ears.
