Bapu all you have done is divert the thread to an off topic subject. This was never meant to usurp anyones thread but was meant to focus on one specific announcement. It was an attempt to answer questions I have seen in other threads and not in Craig's thread.

How do you think threads are started here? A person sees a need and starts a thread. There is no reason for you to have even posted here. If the thread was not of your liking simply ignore it.

One can dislike what I post or point out how my post about the thread is off topic, but to say there is no reason for me to have even posted here is a bit too much.

You could have followed your own advice and just ignored me (even though at least one person here agreed with my original assertion).

Great hosting there John. Really great party you got going on.

My advice to SONAR users is "Don't worry, be happy."

That is Very good advice
I've even used that one on the bandstand when they called out a tune I didn't want to play or didn't know the changes too ...there is absolutely no shame in sitting it out for a tune if you got a smile on your face ....

Reality---- I was up till 2:00 AM downloading and installing Sonar update stuff. I've already got a fabulous program and have updates for life. Even if they don't put out a single update, I'll still have a fabulous program.

I can appreciate what CW are trying to do and it seems commendable.

My question is when certain OS's will no longer be supported. For example, I don't expect to ever go to Win10 but I have a strong suspicion (that doesn't look right) at some point in the near future Win7 will not be supported. If I spring for SPlat based on a 'lifetime' of updates, that could feasibly end within the next few months.

Drlumen if you're asking if the lifetime updates are somehow tied to an OS they aren't.

John, I mostly support and appreciate your posts but just felt you showed a bit of hyprocisy on this one. In as much as I don't know CAKES business model numbers, I don't think you can say with certainty that your MYTH suppositions are correct either, unless you have inside info, to which could you please share.

I think John has been one of the first people to criticize  these questiontion threads on lifetime upgrades he doesn't like or agree with but now when he open pandoras box, he has a hard time admitting that he could have worded his point of view better.

His MYTH statements are as bad as others suppositions in that they are the same thing.  This is a dead horse and I think we all have pretty much agreed that until CAKE clears up all these questions either with "time" or "clarification announcements, that everything is a GUESS.

Now, in business, the one thing you never want to do is say one thing now and do something different later.  You will get labeled a LIAR... it is far more advantageous to leave some ambiguity out there until you actually start the new program and adjust once you see real results.

So, lets all just wait and see what happens and until then keep the "BLIND FAITH".

PS - another reason I have faith beyond the CAKEWALK statements is that I have been a long time reader of Craig A's articles (all the way back to EM days until now) and he has demonstrated that he is a stand up, knowledgeable guy.  I would n't be surprised if this lifetime upgrade thing might have been one of his "ideas".

It's like a good friend offering to sell me all his furniture for next-to-nothing.

My instinct says: "Are you OK? Everything all right?"

I worry.

That's true, but if you don't have a supported OS all you can do is collect the updates, you won't be able to run them. Think about it.

Yup, And you know what's a $%^&?
Cake is forced to remove support for old os's at the hand of Microsoft as Microsoft dictates what os their compiler will work on. That's what happened between X2 and X2a when MS new VS wouldn't run on or support XP. Cakewalk wanted to support multi touch and MS made it a stipulation that to have it they would have to forsake XP to use the VS version that supported it. They could not upgrade but whats the fun in that?

Expect MS use this method to kill off as many OS's it may see as inconvenient including our beloved 7.
Which is really next by the way. Especially the 32 bit.

VS still AFAIK supports 32 bit but I wouldn't expect that for long either.

What is going on Folks?! Cakewalk did a very nice service here. S-Plat isn't going anywhere. Especially now that they've introduced the software for MAC. If you are unsure of lifetime updates do not buy into it.
