I am looking for virtual drum software with some quality R&B/Hiphop sound samples. I am looking into EZDrummer and Session Drummer 2, but they seem to be more suited for rock from the sound samples. Any help??? (I'm recording with Sonar 6 Studio Edition)

I get by just using VELOCITY with some great samples (made even more great plucking .wav files from the new Proteus Packs) and Microtonic for drum synth sounds.

Rapture + Step Sequenzer makes a neat drum machine, in the expansion packs there are some nice HipHop/RnB drumsamples from RGC, Rene I believe?

The mpc groove template is pretty nice to use as well.

Is Session Drummer 2 w/ the Hiphip expansion pack worth it? and what about any version of Fruity Loops??

Listen to the Hip Hop expansion pack samples online to see if it is what you want. I decided to get it just to have more options for SD2.

i don't think that session drummer is going to be flexible enough for you. have a look at the ezdrummer claustrophobic kit, the sounds and gui are really easy to work with. and check out guru like the other guy said.

I would add RMX as another option to seriously consider...

Stylus RMX (Product page)

Tracks made with RMX Of particular relevance for you most likely would be the following demos on that page...

Thats the spot

Spoonbread

Phonattik

Cooker Booker

Sratchmosphere

Stylin

Of course these are just demos. The sounds and style can be whatever you want them to be.

Stylus RMX has about 10,000 sounds, a superb and diverse set of Hip Hop and RNB drum kits and loops. It is absolutely ideal IMO for R&B Hip Hop.

Here is a SOS Mag review.
