I found for what you get it's a bit more expensive than Cubase right now. $395 vs $255. Tho someone said some Cubase crossgrade plugins are only demo.

Under the TEXT dropdown menu there is an option to make the text bigger or smaller.  Unfortunately those options (and keyboard shortcuts) are grayed out.  Useless.

Yeah, I found that too. Can't imagine why it was greyed out. Is that a functionality they withhold from the demo? Font size?

Anyway, it looked like a full-featured DAW -- at least judging from the number of buttons, tabs and sliders I couldn't read. :) I've seen DP in action, actually -- Michael Patti uses it one some of his walk-thru and live composition screencasts demonstration for Cinesamples -- and it looks like an effective DAW. Of course, he's on a Mac, and the Mac version looks a little bit different than the Windows one, and he's working from a mammoth template he has set up that is no doubt customized to his specific needs.

Some folks might find it works for them, but I really felt out of place in DP -- much more so than in Studio One or Reaper. I don't think its for me...

You would think someone from MOTU would be here...

We need more vultures gathering around the carcass.

Instead of having a piss poor attitude why don't you try and help people with accurate info. There is one thing that is always going to be....Life is change!

I'm not happy about Sonar closing down. I've been with Cakewalk since Pro Audio 5. Also, I'm not showing favoritism towards any other DAW. I have made my choice already and I went with Cubase. I would have chose Studio One but it's not mature enough YET. I really liked it's work flow.

There are some videos on Groove3 for versions 8 and 9.
Haven't watched; IF I move, I'm leaning toward Cubase I think.
Right now that's a big IF

Painful!

I just trued it having firgotten about it before seeing this thread. I have never used this program before and my only exposure was a failed attempt to help a friend get a mix exported from it.

I'll bet i could get audio to work simply recording/playing (I haven't tried) but so far, midi has not worked. I had it add my existing VSTs and it crashed first try but managed 2nd try.

Inserting any of the VSTs so far results in white noise. Maybe the included instruments work but i have not tried them either.

Yes... all text is small, but the track text is even smaller and I too was unable to find a way to change track height...

So for now, DP is out of the front runners... Either the learning curve is too steep (makes me think of Media Composer), or it has some issues.

Maybe this is why we hear so little of it?

Pushing me to stay with Sonar even more than before! If that's even possible?

That pretty much summed it up for me.

I managed to get midi working during my trial run, but I actually couldn't tell you how, as I was basically clicking on this and that, and suddenly there it was. I used the Sequence tab when trying to manipulate audio or midi information, as that was resizeable. The track view, I think, was intended as a summary screen or your-project-at-a-glance screen. It was too small to work with or get much detail from. At least, that is my theory.

I tried the sequence screen and though it's resizable, it didn't seem to have all the needed tools?

No matter... the white noise asked me to leave......... 👽

Also demoed it. Fonts are tooooo small, can't even start using it. I googled this issue and it seems that nothing can be done to increase font size and the developer doesn't seem to care. Oh, well, uninstall will fix it for me.

Ah well looks like my little daydream about DP being an option is officially over....
