Pick up Waves' SoundShifter when it's on sale for $29. You'll have to check often, but it will go back on sale at some point.  Or, pick up Pitch Shifter Snapin for $19 at PluginBotique.com everyday.

In plugin manager I found Cakewalk Time/Pitch Stretch 2. I see it resides in a few different folders one being  C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\Stretch.ax and also in  C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\Stretch.ax

By that you'd think I'd have a 32 bit and 64 bit plugin available. But no matter how many times I try to add it to one of my lists on the right inside plugin manager, it just ends up like a phantom plugin. Not showing up when I try to add it to an FX bin. This happens when using 32 bit Splat or CbB - phantom plugin.

I also added these paths in the VST scan:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\ and C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum

It turns out that in the past I've used a Sony pitch/ time shifter that came with Sound Forge and is 32 bit. I sure would like to use the Cakewalk one, especially the 64 bit one.

Any clues on why this is acting so weird?

If you’re looking to shift an entire performance Reaper’s pitch shifter works amazingly well.
Moved a harmonica track down 7 half steps (D down to G) with no issues; granted that wasn’t a vocal, but...
Maybe whatever Reaper uses is availabile as a plug, someone here surely knows.
For me it was the one “good” thing to come out of the “troubles” we recently experienced.

Yes. Time/Pitch Stretch can only be applied as a process, not a plugin.

To use it, right-click the clip, choose either "Insert Effect" or "Process Effect" and select Audio Effects >Cakewalk Time/Pitch Stretch 2.

Insert Effect inserts an effect onto the clip allowing it to be turned on and off or even removed (nondestructive).

Process Effect applies the effect to the clip directly (destructive) but can be undone with ctrl+z.

Thanks, I finally got it to work. I wonder if there are any presets? The Sound Forge plugin for time stretch and pitch shifting has some great presets. Some are for solo instruments, or vocals, or whole mixes with quite a few presets with different variations. If the Cakewalk plugin has no presets, I'll likely stick with the 32 bit Sound Forge plugin.

Still thanks so much for clearing up this mystery

No factory presets but you can save your own.

Cakewalk Pitch Shifter has a few basic presets but you can also save your own.
