Does anyone know how to use McDSP v.6 presets in Windows? Some basic functions are lost without presets, especially with the reverb plugin (Revolver), which can't be used at all.

McDSP likes presets in the .vstpreset format/extension. Sonar likes presets with the extension .fxpreset.

I used Fxtractor to convert the .vstpreset files to .fsb, in the desperate hope that Sonar would be able to open a VST2 file, but they wouldn't open. (Likely at VST3 vs. VST2 issue.)

I also tried manually editing the extensions to .fxpreset. That also didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I do not have McDSP products but do have Softube plug-ins that use vstpreset files. They are all VST3 plug-ins and work fine in CbB and SONAR. AFAIK, vstpreset only work with VAT3. I see McDSP ship their plug-ins as VST2 and VST3. Are you trying to use the vstpreset files with VST2 plug-ins?

I use the McDSP 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip.

The presets are located in C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\VST3 Presets\McDSP

To load them, click the dropdown on the VST3 menu and select "Load Preset". This should take you directly to this folder and allow you to browse through the presets in .vstpreset format.

Once you've loaded a preset, you then have the option of saving it in Cakewalk format by double clicking on the Preset name, giving it a name, and clicking the Save Icon.
