Can anyone of you please advise me ? i'm currently working on a project whereby i need to insert some music to a video . I imported the video into my sonar platinum and the video start immediately when i click the play button. However i need to video to start 2 seconds later . As in the video will not move until 2 seconds later . How do i go about doing that ?
 
I tried different ways like
Preferences > Clock > SMpt  Or
Right click video view > video properties and try changing the " Start Time" but can't as the box is in grey color .

Never used video in Sonar (I use Sony Vegas for that), but can't you simply slide the video forward in the timeline by 2 secs?

Try: put the Now line at the beginning.
Go to Project>Insert>Time and set it to 2 seconds.
That worked for me in SONAR X3.

You can't move an MP4 file, but you can with Windows native formats (AVI, WMV). I recommend converting a copy to one of those formats and using that when composing to picture.
 
SONAR changed to the Microsoft Media Foundation engine for videos a while back. Microsoft doesn't seem to have baked it fully yet, so if you run into compatibility problems, you can switch to the previous DirectShow engine. I don't know if this will allow you to move MP4s, maybe someone else can chime in. From the help:
 
When importing a video file, SONAR will first attempt to use the default Media Foundation video engine. If the video format is not supported, SONAR will next attempt to use the legacy DirectShow video engine.
 
If you experience compatibility issues with video files that worked well with previous versions of SONAR, you can globally revert to the DirectShow video engine.
 
To specify the default video engine:
 
1.  Go to Edit > Preferences > Audio - Configuration File.
2.  Under Configuration Settings, click Edit Config File. The Aud.ini file opens in the default Windows text editor.
3.  In Aud.ini, create a new [Video] section and add a new entry called VideoEngine and set its value to 0. For example:
 
[Video]
VideoEngine=0
 
Valid values are as follows:
 
*  0 = DirectShow engine.
*  1 = Media Foundation engine (default).
 
4.  Save Aud.ini and close the Windows text editor.
5.  Click Reload Config Settings to reload the current audio configuration settings from Aud.ini.
 
SONAR will now use the DirectShow video engine when loading project’s that contain video. Removing the above lines, or setting VideoEngine=1, will allow SONAR to globally use the new Media Foundation engine.

Craig's advise is great,  not trying to knock it or say that my advice is better, but my advise is this....get a Video editing app (like Sony Vegas/Movie Studio) and create a video the way you want it with picture starting later.  The reason why is the music you create will start before picture and that will cause you issues down the line. There is nothing, no picture, when you start....except some audio.  You could generate a video file out of Sonar if that is the final product,  it will be OK, but it will not be as efficient.
 
I don't care what DAW you use,  if you are going to work with picture on any regularity, it will be quicker, easier, faster to do your little video chores in a picture app.
