  • Experiencing 'Delay' effect when trying to record a track (p.2)

Hi Lads,
Again thanks.
jb101, the delay effect is that when the note is played, there is a delay of 'say' half a second until the note is heard, so latency/out of sync?
I hold up my hand to being a 'novice' with the technological side of Inteface/PC recording, Daw, and how the system needs all to be in sync etc etc.
However, I need to persevere and learn.
Peace to you All

Dave,
It would help if you posted your driver settings for your interface.  Are you running it in ASIO?  What are your buffer settings?

Also what effects or plug-ins are you using in your project?  And how many tracks?

I will take note of the above and post ASAP...Cheers man

You've got some good posts to start you off. Also, the term to use (and Google) is Latency. The time it takes for the signal to get from your guitar to the PC, processed, and sent back out through your monitors. Audio drivers and buffer settings will control this once they're set right.

Cheers Matt,
Everyone be so helpful.
The advice and comments will help me enormously.
I have an album/s to record so this will help me get the system properly sorted and set up, hopefully do away with the snags, and glitches and let me concentrate on the music.
Peace to All

Be sure to check the Manuel Offset. This is a very important setting in Preferences. If you set the forum filter to search back more than a few months (maybe "from the beginning?") there are old threads that explain how to set this.

BAse 57  - Manual offset-  you should normally never have to tamper with this,, especially a new user.
I think this is a simple case of not using direct monitoring at the interface. Most interfaces add latency so just don't use input echo unless your system is capable of under around 7ms or less.

Hello All,
It appears that the 'sample rate' setting on the interface was set at 96k but sample rate was set at 44.1k in the Sonar operating programme on the PC. The default sample rate on the Sonar programme is 44.1k so it was a case of flicking the switch on the Tri-Capture interface to 44.1k On going through all the advice sent by you chaps, I am now a bit more 'savvy' Hopefully I can now concentrate on recording...legs crossed.
Again, many thanks to you all.
