  • Where is the Vertical Grid (the one acording to "snap to grid") on Track View on 8.5??

I really don't understand why the only (crappy) way to display vertical rules on track view, not just acording to one mesure but also to the snap to grid measure (half, quarter, 32th, etc...), has dissapeared on 8.5!!!!!!!!!
When I discovered that lovely button on the upper rigth corner called "add Musical Snap to Transient Snap Pool" On sonar 7 I thougth changing from cubase sx2 to Sonar wasn't a mistake after all... (What a FOOL!!)
Since then, all my relationship with Sonar is like a war against the workflow. And after 8.5 update SONAR beat me down!!.
How can be the Cakewalk Folks don't think about their software is a DAW? All DAWs in the market (I said ALL) have nice VERTICAL RULES, GRIDS, etc on their track/sequencing view. And they fit nicely on the interface. I mean, they let you configure a lot of parameters. SONAR used to have this crappy lines with an ugly aspect and a big circle on the top of each one, messing wiht the time rule and fighting against you each time you want to set the NOW position with some accuracy.
The most weird thing is that in the PRV view there are a nice grid lines.... Why they aren't in Track view? I don´t know...

Anyway, someone knows where the crappy grid is? Please I need it because as a composer, it helps me a lot to place correctly the audio clips...

Also If the pepople in cakewalk want to retain me as a client in the future, please let me set the output of a MIDI track to more than one VSTi.
Please, let me have more than 255 synths and 744 effects (i'm not sure if this is the correct number), today with the really big bunch of free plugins aviable...
Please redraw the sonar interface in the line of the new plugins interface!! Look Live 8 or Cubase 5, they look awesome, they invite you to work... (Sonar still maintain those awful faders on the inspector).
This is a good one: Don't force me to open regedit to configure properly a vocoder!!! This BUG is in SONAR since SONAR 6 and it's still alive!!! When I told the plugin manager my vocoder is a synth, not an effect, i don't want to travel thru my windows registry untel reach the "inventory folder" to tell regedit the same i told plugin manager a few minutes ago!!!.
And some more I don't remember right now, but they can be resumed in a sentence: do a better work.

You have to get to it thru a context menu that is associated with Transient markers.

I'm just speaking fro memory... 8.5 isn't andy at the moment.

Enable Audio Snap on a clip... right click over the mouse... go to bottom of menu and find the extra context menu... select add MBT to pool... unselect Audio Snap... and the MBT grid will stay apparent. Shut them off with a reverse procedure.

It was one of the many workflow upgrades we got with 8.5. A one step process seemed to become a 5 step process.

It's still there but kind of hidden. You need to choose the Transient tool in the Track view toolbar. Then right-click in between the transient markers of an audio clip. In the menu, hover your mouse over the gray bar at the bottom of the menu and then choose Pool > Add MBT To Pool.

That will display the grid lines and they will follow the Snap To Grid setting when you change it.

Best,
Scott

Wouldn't it be easier to just put a "vertical grid line" checkbox in the snap to grid dialog?

Wouldn't it be easier to just right click in the view and tick 'show vertical grid line'

How do you get the grid to show on top of the track waveforms?

Excellent tip.  If you ever start selling tennis shoes here in the forum, I'm definitely placing an order with you.

Anyone know where to find the color settings for these grid lines?  I need to make them lighter so that they show up in the factory default color scheme.

Tom -- Yeah, that would be a nice feature.

Amazed -- Yeah, that would be nice too.

Rod -- I don't think you can do that.

Dave -- LOL! Hey, I might just do that. SONAR Power! Shoes will boost your pro audio prowess.

I ask this question it seems at least once a year.  <LOL>  I found it by using the Forum Search (which works once you know it's idiosyncrasies.

Anyway, it's in ALL Colors > Musical Snap Pool Lines
