I'm sure I have seen this before on the forum, but I can't find it...I have just bought a new PC and reinstalled X1. I have also installed and registered Guitar Rig 4, and the stand alone version is there including all the presets.

The VST version is sitting in its default location in program files/cakewalk/vsts. I have rescanned the VST folder, including looking for failed plug ins but still GR4 VST does not show up - all the others VSTs are available.

Any help appreciated.

Could it be that the vst folder is missing in the scan list in preferences? Try to add the program files/native instruments folder

The GR4 VST is located alongside all the other VSTs in program files/cakewalk/vst plug ins...

The standalone is working? If so, then is shouldn't be an activation problem but I have seen that with Amplitube.

Some of my NI stuff went into a folder within vstplugins and I couldn't find them from within Sonar but then I finally saw in the vst list (from within Sonar) a directory and that had the missing plugins I was looking for. Having said that, I didn't have that trouble with GR 4 but I thought I would mention it just in case.

That's it...I'm so embarrassed, but thank you. I need a new brain...

Hi Bill

I have exactly the same problem you mentioned with Guitar Rig. However the standalone is working. I`m using the 32bit X1 with Windows 7 64bit. Could you please tell me how you solved this problem?

Thanks in advance

In my case it was simply forgetting that GR is an effect not an instrument! (I've only been using it for two years, so an easy mistake to make...)

Therefore you need to load it as an effect in an audio track, not look for it as a soft synth.

Right, that is the end of my public confession and humiliation (for now)!
