I'm trying to record some fader information into a song I started before CbB was released and after pressing the 'Write' icon the fader pan etc get a red border to show they're active when playing the song and moving the fader no automation is written.
 
If I start a blank project it works ok 
 
I can manually write into automation lanes but this is just an early mix so want to be able to make easy 'On The Fly' changes later on.
 
So not sure how to proceed from here
 
Any help gratefully accepted

Just tried to save the project as a Bundle (CWB) file and reload but no change
 
BTW is there a way to copy complete track including plugins from one project to another

Sorry track templates only save a blank track, the midi or audio is not copied. 
 
You don't need to be using bundle files,
If you want a second copy of a project just use "save as" and re name it.  
You were doing the correct procedure to automate a track.
This can be done after the fact this way
Just select the Write function and play the song and make the fadder moves in real time as the song plays.
