I know there are tons of them in Rapture, Dimension Pro, etc, but I just can't find the right one.  They are usually too weak or two slow or have some stupid effect at the end of them.  I just want a basic, awesome pad.  Here's an example:  "I Wanna Know What Love Is" by Foreigner.  You know the main keyboard sound that begins the song and goes throughout?  THAT kind of pad.  Really thick and strong, but airy at the same time.  Can't find anything like that.

I would suggest that you find one close and then tweak it.  That is the beauty of our modern software synths, we can tweak them infinity until we get the sound we are looking for.

Since you know what the pad you wants sounds like, make it.  The filter or amp envelope can get you a quicker hitting pad, you can strip an effect off (and for reverb and delay adjust the decay).  As far as "weak," I'd suggest a different sample(s), tho I don't really know what you mean by weak.

It might help if you provided which synth you are using.

That particular keyboard sound on the recording may not just be one synth but built up from multiple layers on different instruments played by different people.

This may help - http://www.vintagesynth.c...ic.php?f=1&t=53312

Pretty much any analogue or "virtual analogue" polyphonic synth or even "string machine" can make that sort of sound, as can a Hammond organ with the vibrato and "percussion" turned off. To get the fullness may mean multiple sounds/synths have to be layered on top of each other. Of course, you may need to programme the synths yourself....

To my ears, at a quick listen, the warm character of the pad on the recording sounds very much the kind of thing a Prophet or Jupiter does.
