Hello,
I wish you Happy new year !
I hope the new year will be for me the move from Cubase i currently use to Sonar X1 but i have the Qcon Icon control surface and it seem it is not supported in Sonar also if it is Mackie Control compatible.
Is someone able to give me support ?
Many thanks in advance.

Vincent

Hello Vincent,
The Icon Qcon is not fully MCU compatible. The main problem is the MCU-Handshake. Sonar send a Sysex(are you a MCU? Version? ID?...) and the Qcon don't transmit an 'answer-sysex'. I hope ICON fix this problem (but I do not think so)!
If you are tricky you can send the answer-sysex with midiox!
Sorry for my bad english!

can you give example or fix using MIDIOX?
It'll be great to "cheat" Sonar using BCR2000 custom Mackie Mode :)

Hello there,

I found an easier way, without MIDI-OX.
You'll need a second MIDI Port!

Step by step:
- switch on iCON QCON: Cubase Mode
- Run SONAR
- Open a Project(or crate an new Project)
- Press "P"(Preferences) and click Control Surfaces
- Change your In Port to your second MIDI Port and click OK
- Connect your MIDI IN of your second MIDI Port with your MIDI OUT of your second MIDI Port (I know it's bad!)
- Press ALT+SHIFT+7 to open the SYSEX-View, create a new SYSEX: F0 00 00 66 14 1B 58 59 5A 00 00 00 00 F7 (save it!)
- send the SYSEX to your second MIDI (The faders of the QCON move and the Display show some information!)
- disconnect the "MIDI loop" of your second MIDI port
- Set the IN Port of your Control Surface back to "iCON Qcon Ver1.0x" (Preferences --> Control Surfaces)

Sorry for my bad English!

can you describe it more detailed? what "second midi port"?

Hello adrian4u,

in my SONAR configuration the iCON Qcon Ver1.0x is the first MIDI Port. The "second MIDI port" means a further MIDI Port(ex. USB MIDI interface).

I don't own a BCF-R2000 controler.

Hi sawshark, and thank you for you support.
Sorry i'm late in my reply. So you are able to let the Icon Qcon work properly with Sonar x1 ?
This way it is as a Mackie also with the display and all the buttons working ?
Thank you so much in advance i will try to follow your procedure.
I hope Icon will do something for the Qcon but i'm not sure, they didn't reply from so long time.
I hope to be able to do what you suggest.

many thanks
Vincent

Sawshark, unfortunatly there is something wrong in my understanding.
What do you mean in the steps:
- Change your In Port to your second MIDI Port and click OK
- Connect your MIDI IN of your second MIDI Port with your MIDI OUT of your second MIDI Port (I know it's bad!)

I did it but nothing happen. Probably i'm in fault.
Would you be so kind to hardcopy the screens if you can or to explain the process in detail.
Sorry but i'm a noob !

thank you so much.

OK it's working. My fault.
Thank you so much. The qcon is working fine with Sonar with this workaround. Almost all functions are mapped and the lcd display is working ! Great !!
My problem now is that the second fader is no more touch sensible. I dont think the problem is related to the workaround but i made the tentative to refresh the firmware. Also after the firmware reset the problem is still the same. I think it's an hardware problem and also with Cubase the second fader is not working fine.
Have u a suggestion or do u think the unit need assistance (after only one month is a pity).
Thanks again !

Hello Vincentsemper,

hold F6(QCon) and torn on the QCon to enter the "Touch Sensitivity test" mode.

If you press the "DAW 1" button the display shows some more information.
With the "<<" and the ">>" buttons you can change the senstivity from 01 to 10.
