Hi SawShark, Thank you for the tip it works great. I have though 2 questions: 1/ Is there a way to automatize this so each time you open Sonar you don't have to trick it again? 2/ What SysEx to send to the QCon Pro EX module? If you send the same SysEx it behaves as a copy of the main module... Thanks, Stéphane

Well I got it working. I simply had to understand how Sonar works with Control Surfaces...

No need to have a different Sysex, I simply used the same for the QCon EX but I have set it as Mackie-XT and then customized the layout in the main Mackie control surface option menu.

Sorry to bump this thread.

I have an icon iControls Pro and am trying to get it to run with Sonar X1d with no luck. I'm running the latest firmware on the iControls and have the iMap software installed on my system.

I'm confused as to what's the best approach to get this running with Sonar X1d in both directions as it appears the above suggestions are a bit hard to understand and vary.

Would someone be so kind as to post a step by step?

Thanks a million!

Thank you sawshark for that workaround..got the qcon working. was a little confusing so if its any help ill try to explain how i did it below.

Firstly turn on qconpro cubase mode (oor nuendo seems to work the same).
start sonar.
Then I used a physical midi in out box connected to pc via usb which now sits on top on desk for easy access as youll need it every time you load sonar!
Connect the midi in and out using a midi lead.
in sonar go to edit preferences midi devices and ensure the icon and usb midi are highlighted on ins and outs.
go to controllers and in the first line add mackie control...in as your usb midi device and out as your icon pro
second line add mackie control.. in and outs as your usb midi device.

Now load or create a new project.

Click view.. sysex

in the first line add the sysex code as sawshark mentioned.
choose output 2
then send.
also save this sysex file so you can load it in each new project.

If youve done this right the qcon will light up.

Next disconnect the midi lead on your usb device.
in edit preferences change back the controller in line one in as qcon.

Sounds trickier than it is but after a while it gets easier.. it is a pain and appears to need to be done every time you load sonar.

After a couple of days testing the qcon with sonar have a few issues that I was hoping someone could answer!
Firstly what are the vpots doing..seems completely random when displaying pan.

Secondly The timecode isnt coming through on the right hand display.

Thirdly to be able to switch back and forth with the busses.(like you can with the mackie control).pressed varius buttons to see what they did and pressing vst( as per cubase overlay) switched the faders to the busses.. great! But now cannot find any button that switches back to tracks so having to turn qcon off and on again.. any ideas?

Thank you sawshark,

I tried this on Sonar Platinum and it worked.
The only bit I had to figure out was sending the sysex to the correct port. In my case this was port 3 (selecting between 1-4).
