I lost a couple of almost completed projects because I can no longer even open the song file.  I keep getting a crash while the song file is loading.  Here is the name of the error:

C:\Users\Audio\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\MiniDumps\Plugins\_06082016_181851.dmp

It single handedly rendered any song with EWQL plug ins unable to be opened...the plug ins all open fine in stand alone... anyone have any ideas?

Have you opened in Sonar safe mode (Hold down shift while opening file to bypass plugins)?

Did you try a roll back?

What would opening in safe mode do (sorry to ask a dumb question) also I dont know how to roll back... I can look it up.  Thanks for responding

You stated that "It single-handedly rendered any song with EWQL plug ins unable to be opened"

What safe will allow you to do is to open the project but selectively bypass the EWQL plugins in the process, which may allow you to al least open the project(s). (albiet without the EWQL plug ins loaded)

To roll back to the previous version of Platinum, you open up the Cakewalk Command Centre, Right click "Platinum" and select "Rollback" and then select the version that you wish to roll back to.

okay... again thank you for responding... The original lead vocal was excellent but I had only rendered it with the EWQL reverb (instead of dry)... so when she sang some edited parts... the change in reverb sounded awful... I may try the open without plug ins thing first, render the vocal dry, then roll back... this last update was a total disaster... Melodyne even crashes now... the whole program is buggy as heck... the transport arm keeps sticking even though the song is playing the arm sticks for a few second over and over... like its doing a bunch of extra processing or something.  The whole thing has created a nightmare for the last couple of weeks...

I did the safe mode thing and at least was able to salvage the lead vocal... you are a lifesaver.  Thank you so much... in terms of the roll back... not so good.  Anything related to EWQL immediately crashes... even when I go 4 versions back.  It will work with EWQL piano if I create a new project, but no matter what I do the EWQL reverb is completely unusable.  However in standalone the reverb opens and sounds fine...

When you are writing you are in one side of your brain... being a tech support guy requires the other side... hence the reason I get so frustrated with the constant problems I have with this stuff.  I used to just love Sonar... but its become so buggy that I bought a Mac... who knows I may find out that the problem lies between the chair and the keyboard :)... we'll see.  I read they are experimenting with a Mac version of Sonar.... perhaps the stability factor would be better in that setting.  Sonar is so intuitive and easy to use...I am really going to miss some of their functions.  Thanks again for your help!!

Have you tried reinstalling EWQL, minus the samples? You may just have a corrupt file. Worth a try.

+1 on uninstall and reinstall EWQL and Play, as well as EW Download Center.  They can glitch out and screw things up but reinstalling fixes it for me.  Also, lack of RAM (no, not Rack of Lamb) can be a problem and destabilze projects with lots of large EW samples.

It also may be something as simple as rescanning your plugins. I use EastWest stuff in almost every project and have not seen any issues with recent updates, so something peculiar happened to your setup. Rescanning the plugins might allow them to work again without reinstalling.

One other thing: if you've recently updated the Play engine, verify that the DLL is in the location where Sonar reports it. I've had a Play update drop a DLL in a different folder than the previous version and Sonar kept trying to load the old version, but it no longer worked because the Play update broke it.

Dan
