  • Sonar Platinum - Missing waveforms - SOLVED!!

Hi, everybody!

I'm using Sonar Platinum on an ACER notebook.
Whenever I open an existing project or create a new one, the audioclip's waveforms are not there, and the "Busy" warning stays forever. If I record a new channel the same happens. The sound is there, but the picture not.
I tried recomputing pictures with shift K command, but nothing.

The computer is brand new, that's what sounds odd. I'm trying to start working, but if I can not edit the waveforms I'm in big trouble, you know.

Anyone has passed through this issue?
Thanks in advance!

1. Try clearing out your picture cache
2. Sonar doesn't have any waveform editing tools, so your last comment is moot.

Thanks for your answer.

1. I tried to do it, but couldn't find the old "picture cache style" way to clean it. I don't know where Platinum has it now. But, as I said, the notebook is brand new, so... there must be not too many pictures to clean... Either way, I'd like to know how to do it.

2. Like anyone using any DAW, I have to SEE the content of the clip. That is... the waveform! So, when I edit the clip, I edit the waveform.
So... my comment isn't moot at all.

Thanks again!

Hi Chino:
This may work:
1. Press "P" on your keyboard
2. When the SONAR preferences come up under "Audio" click "Driver Settings"
3. Make sure that your Playback Timing Master and Record Timing Master are the same as your sound card.

I hope this gets you going.

Hi, jude77!

Thanks for your answer. Sadly, it didn't work. I don't know what to do.
Even when the track is recording the preview waveform is missing.

Thanks anyway!

Another thing: importing an external audio doesn't help either. No waveform and the "Busy" sign.
Could it be something with the hardware or the computer itself?

I don't know how to manage it...

Did you check that the picture cache location (as defined in settings) is pointing at a valid folder?

Hey, AntMan!

Well, is pointing to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum. I tried creating a "picture cache" in this path, and nothing. Should it go anywhere else? I'm lost here...

Thanks for your input.

You shouldn't have to create anything, it should be there already.

At this point I suggest you either contact support or reinstall.

I would try creating a new folder somewhere (ideally on a fast disk with plenty of space) then going to settings and setting the picture cache location by browsing to that folder.
