• SONAR
  • QuadCurve - very annoying bug?

Hi all,
When I make changes in QuadCurve sometimes (more and more often!!) it makes the changes on ALL my QuadCurve instances. If I f.ex. change the HP filter freq, it will change all HP filters on all QuadCurves with the same amount. I then need to go through ALL HP filters in my 50+ tracks and change them back, because you cannot undo this! Very frustrating. I am now doing this third time in my evening session. Has anyone else experienced this? or could this be by design that I trigger somehow without knowing it?
I don't experience this on any other ProChannel modules. Help would be very appreciated.

Is it possible you have grouping engaged?

I don't have any grouping on QuadCurve....
btw this doesn't only happen for HP filter, other settings too f.ex. changes the values in one of the bands.

Or are holding the Ctrl key and going quick grouping?

That would require all tracks to be selected right? I was very careful to not select all tracks because I thought that might be what triggered this, but still I encounted the problem. The last time it happened this evening was actually when I was doing automation on HP filter on a track (and not fiddling with the QuadCurve directly) - I hold the Ctrl key while dragging an entire envelope, and that's when All HP filters changed along with it - that's even more strange....
Is it possible to disable quick grouping? just to see if that's what caused it.

No it wouldn't. Ctrl is a quick group. If you adjust something while holding the ctrl key it will apply to all like instances.

From page 1074 of the manual;

To use a Quick Group
Do one of the following:
To adjust the same control in all tracks. Hold down the CTRL key and adjust a control in a track that is not
selected. SONAR automatically adjusts the same control in all other tracks.
To adjust the same control in selected tracks. Select the tracks you want to adjust, then hold down the
CTRL key and adjust a control in any selected track. SONAR automatically adjusts the same control in all other
selected tracks of the same type.

I just tried it on a test project....quick group doesn't work unless you have the other tracks selected. At least I can't do it!

Ah! I need to unselect the track and yes it worked (when everything is unselected). It's possible that's what I encounter. But it's still strange that this also applied when I edited an automation envelope while holding Ctrl down (my post above). You don't want to change other instances values when doing automation on a single track. That's not the intention.

I don't know if this is the same issue but I have had a long standing problem with the Quadcurve in which certain bands are randomly boosted on every track. For instance I might be working on a project and all of a sudden the Lo-Mid band on every track is set to 70Hz and boosted by 15dB, regardless of where it was before.
