  • [SOLVED] New version of Arturia Analog Lab 2 not working in Sonar

Hi all. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but it does seem to be potentially a Sonar-related issue, so...

I have the Arturia V-Collection 4 and am investigating the new updates. I noticed that in my Arturia Software Center I had the option to install Analog Lab 2, which I did. Played around with it in standalone a bit. Nice interface! And nice to get some of the new sounds as a free/teaser update.

However when I open the VSTi or the VST3i in Sonar (Platinum, latest build) it runs, and opens the GUI, but receives no MIDI and produces no audio, even when played from its own virtual keyboard. It's not an across-the-board issue with the new versions, as I've installed the Synclavier demo (which is pretty sweet!) and it functions as expected.

I am checking it in Ableton to see if the problem is there too... Nope, it works as expected in Live 9.

So it seems Sonar does not like this plugin? Can anyone confirm?

Let us know what you find.  I'm sitting on the upgrade/update question myself.  You looking to merely update the existing VST or upgrading to the new suite including the Synclavier?

OK. I've posted the question over at the Arturia forum as well, but I think that is a somewhat quieter place than this. I guess they probably have a problem report area as well, but I wanted to see if anyone here could confirm the issue before I do that. Might just be my system. Haven't tried uninstalling/reinstalling yet, because it seems so strange - the plugins scan, and load, but just don't do anything.

Regarding the upgrade question, I'm not sure yet. I want to make sure things work first. I do really like the Synclavier, though it would be better if it had the sampling/resynthesis possibility as well. But the piano and organ emulations aren't doing much for me, so the full meal deal upgrade is overkill and likely not worth $200 to me - maybe if they would update the V4 instruments and throw in the Synclavier for $150 I'd be tempted, but I think they know full well the Synclavier is the main draw and they'll want to tie it all together, or not at all. So the minimum update is more likely, but again - this issue with AL2 is making me cautious.

EDIT: Also, cleverly, UVI seem to have a special on their Beast sample-based instrument, to tantalize those of us who have a sudden hankering for Synclavier sounds but aren't convinced by the full Arturia upgrade. Looks like it's 50 beans and change at AudioDeluxe.

Running 64bit SONAR 2016.05 EAP release on Win 10. The 64bit Analog Lab 2 VST3 works OK. Any particular patch having problems?

I'm on exactly the same. All patches. No MIDI getting through, and no sound when played from the plugin's own keyboard. Argh. I guess I'll uninstall and reinstall then.

EDIT: did a full uninstall and reinstall of AL2 and the situation is the same. Works everywhere except in Sonar. Strange!!!#

EDIT 2: on an impulse, I tried it hosted within NI Komplete Kontrol, within Sonar. Works fine. The plot thickens! But at least I have a workaround for the moment if I want to use some of those Synclavier sounds...

Maybe try a rescan of your plugins?

I only have NI Guitar Rig 5 and Reaktor 5. I wonder if the problem is related to NKS support.

Just done a quick test of Arturia Analogue Lab 2 in SONAR Platinum 2016.05 Early release without a problem.
Sorry.  Will test again in the latest release and report back.

Edit:- Works fine under 2016.05.43 64 bit.

Well you are not the only one having a problem http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3423278 however it seems unrelated.

I have just updated Sonar to 2015.5 (64 Bit) and I tried Analog Lab 2 (VST3 version) I did not do an extensive test but a went through quite a few patches and everything seems to be working fine.

One thought, by any chance are you running the 32 bit plugin in Sonar 64 bit? Check the paths in the plug in manager and make sure its pointing at the right location for the 64 bit version of Analog Lab 2.

I ran into something similar in X3 with the demo version of Jupiter-8V (2.7.0). It worked fine standalone, but acted strangely disconnected in Sonar, no response to MIDI or GUI, no sound ... until I re-ran wave profiler. Then it responded normally, until I closed the project and/or restarted Sonar.  Running the wave profiler corrected the problem again temporarily.  So I uninstalled it.  Oddly, the CS80-V (2.7.0) worked just fine in Sonar.

Just noticed on the Arturia website, new in V Collection 5: Jup-8 V3 (3.0.0).  Installed a demo of the new version and using the included VST3, it works fine in Sonar now. Plus the larger, resizable GUI does wonders for my old eyes :-)

Update: Just tested the demo for Analog Lab 2 VST3, and it works fine here with Sonar.
