  • How to convert Expression Pedal to control the Mod Wheel?

I want to use my expression pedal to control the wah wah on the Kontact 5.1 Clavinet instrument and the Sonitus Wahwah effect.

Both of them are set to use the Mod wheel as the manual wah wah controller.

My keyboard controller only outputs the expression pedal to CC# 11.

I need something in Sonar Platinum to "transpose" from CC# 11 to CC#1 (the Mod wheel).

This seems like something that every keyboard player would like to do with Sonar.

Please let me know if it is possible to do this or not with Sonar Platinum.

There are two ways to do this.  Using Process|Find change command or the "Move Selected Values to This lane" function on the PRV

See help Under "Find/Change and Event Filter dialog" for the Process|Find change command

Or "Multiple automation controller lanes" to use the PRV to move controller events from one lane to another (In your case from CC11 to CC1)

@garth,
You can't convert one controller to another in real time natively in Sonar, but there is a MIDI FX plugin called CC Map at http://tencrazy.com/gadgets/mfx/ that will do exactly what you need.  It converts one input continuous controller to another and has the option to pass through the original controller as well.  I have successfully used it in Sonar Platinum to map CC#1 from my controller to CC#11.  It is available in 32 and 64 bit.  The plugin is free to use, but you can donate to the developer.

Hope this helps,

Ron, thanx for this site.  It looks like it offers some very useful MIDI tools.

Thanks, Ron.   This was exactly what I needed.
Yes, of course, I needed a real time foot pedal control to record the tracks.

CW should have added included the Midi Plugin for CC "transposition"  a long time ago.

Many thanks to Markleford Friedman who wrote the plugin.

Note:  The installation of TcMfxCcMap64 Plugin required me to do a manual CMD: regsvr32.exe TcMfxCcMap64.dll on my Windows 10 laptop.   The next step is to use the Cakewalk plug-in Manager to add the "TenCrazy.com CC Map" to the Menu.

I'm using MIDIOX (does midi remapping) and LoopBe (a virtual midi port) to do all kinds of midi realtime transformations from a couple Midi keyboards.  Probably overkill for this one thing you want to do.  You can google find them easily but they take a fair amount of figuring out plus MIDIOX runs as an external application.

If someone is looking for alternatives, here it one more:

Each preset listed (and downloadable) at the end of that thread function as a complete MIDI FX plug-in with described functionality. NO programming skills required to use completed presets. If you need specific processing, do not hesitate to ask.
