  • How does one set an end time to a recording in Sonar?

Can't figure it out. I've got markers and all that good stuff but I can't set an end time to the song. How does one do that? Every time I play back the recording it keeps going for two minutes even after the song finishes. I export the entire recording but the finished wave also includes a good two minutes of nothing after the song ends. Can anyone help? Thanks!

for exporting, you can simply drag your mouse along the timeline for the part that you want exported.  the highlighted area will follow your snap to grid settings.

yea, I have the same problem. Something to do with envelopes I think, as they go on forever.

I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear. Is there a way of making a begining and end time for the project? I know how to export the project to a final wave. That is not the problem.

As in the above pic, my global setiings are the same. But how do I set the end time so Sonar knows were to stop? For example: My project ends at 202:01:000 but Sonar keeps playing until 234:01:000.

There may be a way to manually set an end time but I'm not aware of it. As far as I know this is set automatically. What you might try is select all with the cursor where you want the project to end and then use the split tool, or press s, to split the project there. Then click and drag the timeline to the right past where it is stopping and then hit delete. There must be something there that may not be visible but is part of the project. Could be automation as timidi suggests. Could be something else.

Make sure that the looping and punch-in tools are not enabled and that their ranges do not extend past where you want the project to stop.

Yep there are envelopes. And it goes on endlessly. Tried Split tool but nothing. No loops no snap to grid,  (I never use that). This is frustrating. This is pretty stupid not to be able to control the end and begining of a project.

Envelopes should be easy to fix if that is your problem. Just delete any nodes that extend past where you want the end to be..

Did that. After the end of the project the envelopes turn into dashes with no nodes. I can push play and this thing will go on after that till it reaches 234:01:000. Still can't figure why Sonar doesn't let me choose the end, (Thru Time).

I'd sure like to take a look at that project file.
