Thanks for the update. We'll look into your reports.

FYI: We have about 4000 plugins installed on our test machine. I have close to 1400 plugins on my work machine (with waves plugins installed)

I've nothing like that number, however....

Might I suggest you consider something along the lines of Logic's plugin manager? It wouldn't translate directly to Windows of course, because Logic uses AUs not a mix of VST2 and 3 and there's the need to define where the plugins are in the drive's directory structure, which there isn't in Logic/OS X, but as a way to assign plugins to locations in the plugin tree I find it much easier to work with Logic's plugin manager than Sonar's.

Just please don't emulate Logic's hyper-threading routines (less than ideal) or its crazy restrictive way of handling multiple MIDI inputs by summing everything into one single "sequencer input" port so you only have one MIDI input port (unlike Sonar's selectable ports per input device) and therefore only 16 channels to work with.

although not automatic, it is straightforward to place markers with chord names on the ruler..

...and maybe it can 'auto-detect' the chords either from audio or midi.

Cakewalk already has a MIDI FX for detecting chords from MIDI.

yea but I am talking a chord grid at the top of the rulers area, like the Navigation Bar.  This way while tracking you can see the chords as you play.  Very helpful!   Other DAWs have this chord bar.

+1 for plugin manager improvements. As part of this I would like to be able to see the source location of plugins as they are highlighted.

As for choosing plugins from the FX bin, how about either 1) a larger list window, 2) a faster scroll, or 3) a mouse-wheel scroll-able list? I only have 300 plugins and am annoyed by scrolling through categories (organized by Company in my case, and my Melda plugins are really difficult to see/scroll through) - I can't imagine how you even get through 4000 options...

Where do you find the time to play with all of these?!!!

The drum maps and programming are #1 on my list. Would be cool if the CAL routines for humanization could be built into the piano roll along with the MFX plugs so I don't have to keep switching views to process the effect.

Also the chord track in Cubase, if set to follow chord track, if you play a wrong note, it will correct itself to a correct note in the chord.  This is true for audio or midi......very handy for guitar players who are not proficient playing keyboards.  Also it is a great writing tool, and would be a welcome feature in Splat!

+1 on that.   I am not the best keyboard player in the world, this would help me greatly... BUT there must be a feature to turn that off, because often times I play notes out of the scale.

You can turn that feature on and off in Cubase.  You can choose to either follow the chord or not in any given track.

so now that Cakewalk is "Committed To Awesomeness", I thought maybe we can add our ideas here for parts of the product that are just cumbersome and archaic.

Hopefully the bakers will see this thread.

I will start the list off with:

1.  ACT
2.  Drum Maps

+1 and please update the drum pane (this is probably the main thing that is preventing me from updating to SPLAT). One specific thing (and I know this has been mentioned in other threads) not to have to resize the drum name column EVERY time you open up the drum pane.

dorism
1. ACT revamp -proper easy to use audio quantising
2. Chord tracks
3. Revamp of the UI. Icons too big, poor use of real estate in terms of visible tracks etc. More scalable.
4. Scrolling project window
5. Extract tempo from midi and audio - never really worked properly
6. CPU use per plugin
7. Note expression
8. Panorama integration
9. Score editor
10. Sample editor
11. Bring back sonitus for 64 bit!
