Except I just paid in January! If I wouldn't have, but upgrade price would be the same. Just doesn't seem fair, does it?

Not clear what you're saying.  If you had full Platinum (not monthly), and just paid in January, the lifetime upgrade should be $99.

If you hadn't paid in January (and had Platinum from last year), the price for lifetime would be $199, so no, not the same...

That's not correct, $99 is only when you paid for 1 year Platinum + renewed for the 2nd year. If you entered into Platinum from Producer in January, even immediately for the full year, the upgrade would still be $199. I'm in the same boat as eikelbijter (LOL I understand Dutch) but did the upgrade in December. Worst case you could have done the upgrade from Producer to Platinum for $199 in May, and now again have to pay $199 for Lifetime, effectively having wasted that $199 on the May upgrade from Producer.
So yeah, it doesn't seem fair that now a lifetime renewal of Platinum has the same price as the upgrade from Producer. This has never been the case in the past. We are in fact the only ones who have to pay more than the yearly renewal. Before Lifetime, a 1 year membership coming from Producer was also $199, but when you were already on Platinum a renewal was $149.

Purchased one month of SPlat Professional and qualified for the Crossgrade to 1 year Platinum. Assumed the outcome would be the same, so long as it sees the right 'type' of software to upgrade.

The upgrade is for producer/platinum, not professional.

Correct.

I was showing the pattern that the upgrade serial doesn't look at how long you've had the version you are upgrading, only that you actually have the correct version that is eligible for the upgrade in your account. If you buy an upgrade from AudioDeluxe and you have a version of Platinum (whether you bought a month or a year), the serial you apply sees that you have a valid version that is eligible for upgrade and bingo-bongo.

I don´t think it will work, you still need a correct version to crosscrade, Professional to Platinum and not "upgrade-any-sonar-producer-or-platinum"

I've confused you.

I already have Platinum. I'm not looking to upgrade.

I was saying that a brand new person could possibly buy 1 month of Platinum ($50). They then have the correct version in their account needed for the Platinum lifetime upgrade ($169). If that works, a brand new, non-Sonar user could pay $219 to get Sonar with lifetime updates instead of the $500 retail.

Clearly one month of a twelve month payment plan does not provide a full license to SONAR. The lifetime upgrade requires a full license to SONAR. Cakewalk has already explained how users on the monthly plan can purchase the upgrade.

Why are you trying to encourage someone to risk $219 in an attempt to scam Cakewalk out of a copy of SONAR?

I still have a working license of Sonar Professional that I can install and run from the CCC that I only paid for one month. Isn't that exactly what the 'membership' foundation is all about?

Otherwise it becomes a subscription. No scam at all, just working within the boundaries that were already set.

You think you have found a scheme to fleece Cakewalk out of a copy of the software. It is a scam if the the upgrade sold requires a license which is not granted until the twelfth consecutive payment is made. Moreover this is not a tried method but something you are suggesting others do with their money not yours....nice.

It might have been something to report to Cakewalk but maybe not appropriate to post here. I am not going to delete the thread just yet but will make the staff aware.
