I know this really isn't a cakewalk problem, but I figured maybe someone here could help. I have also posted this on the M audio forum.

I am having a problem with my M-Audio Delta audiophile 192 card. Actually, playback is working fine it's the control panel mixer that won't boot up.
 
When I click on the icon on the right hand side (taskbar ) the icon shows up on the left-hand side as it normally would when a window is open, but the actual mixer will not boot up.
 
I am suspecting it is some kind of bizarre Windows problem. I have used Auslogics registry cleaner and disk defrag to clean up Windows a bit, but still to no avail. I have also looked for file associations to the program for the control panel mixer and found none.
 
I have also used the alt/tab keys to toggle back and forth between Windows, also to no avail. I have tried just about everything I can think of. Seems to me I had this kind of problem before and found some workaround for it, but I can't remember what it is.
 
It should also be noted that this system is equipped with a pullout drives for the operating systems. In the other two operating systems the Delta control panel boots up just fine. But as I noted, it is also using the 5074 driver.
 
It should also be noted that the Delta card is installed in the very last PCI slot as recommended by a lot of the hardware information I have seen. But, that would really have nothing to do with this particular issue, and more to do with clicks and pops and poor performance etc.
 
This particular operating system is using the 5076 driver. So I downloaded a fresh copy and tried to repair it. Didn't work. So then I uninstalled it and installed the 5074 driver. Still wouldn't boot up.
 
For now, I have found a workaround inside of sonar producer X1 by using the master volume control to control the overall playback volume. It seems like the audiophile card volume is set to maximum volume as it will distort if I leave the master inside of sonar at zero.
Like I said I just reduce the master volume and it works fine.
 
But I really like the Delta mixer .............. help...!!!
 
I am presently using sonar X1 Producer with both the c and d updates installed. (Installed Sequentially in the right order of course)

Found it. But thanks anyway guys. This might help someone else. So I am Posting It.
It seems it disappeared somewhere in the Upper Left hand corner of my Monitor, out of sight, off the screen.
Just go to the M-Audio drivers support page, select Delta audiophile 192 Windows 7 service pack 1.
Then click on the frequently asked questions page, and type in control panel.
There it was.
Delta control panel won't open; appears in the taskbar but the interface is not visible

Q When I try to open the Delta control panel, the program appears in the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen, but I can't see the control panel.  How do I get the control panel to open
 
A If the Delta Control Panel application appears at the bottom of your screen on the taskbar, but the control panel window it self is not visible, right-click the application in the taskbar and choose maximize.
 
If it doesn't appear
 •Click on the task bar icon to make the Delta Control Panel the activeselected Window
•Press alt + spacebar
•Press m
•Press a directional arrow
•Move your mouse and you should be able to place the control panel back on screen where you want it
 
 
 
Another option method is to right-click and choose move, then try using the arrow keys to bring it back on screen.
 
Alternatively you can delete the registry key for the Delta Control Panel's Window layout.  Make sure the Delta Control Panel is closed, then press Start+R to open the Run dialog box and type regedit.  Locate and delete the following registry key
 
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareM-AudiodeltaiicplWindowLayout
 
Either way, check to make sure you have the latest drivers for your videographics cards from the manufacturers website.
 
If the control panel won’t open at all from the System Tray, create shortcut on your desktop to point to deltaiicpl.exe located in the windowssystem32 folder.
Get the fark.

Yeah, I seem to remember having that silly problem too.   If you happen to press the wrong combination of keys, the M-Audio control panel goes offscreen and it looks like it isn't opening--it is, but it is not visible.  Had to hunt around for a way to get it back onscreen also.  It may be storing the position/coordinates in the registry--which is why deleting a registry key might help...
 

 I have an AP192, 2 -AP2496.  These are still great cards.  I should also mention that a Phenom II 945 is still a good chip. 

I got to say, I’m glad somebody found this helpful. Most the time I figure things out by myself and by doing searches online for answers in general.
 
But it has come in handy for a few things. Of course it’s always good to have a community. But nowadays I have a new system completely.
 
Same PC for now, but now I am running 16 GB of RAM and a crucial SSD with Windows 10 64-bit. Runs pretty good I can’t complain. I am building a newer PC, faster and smarter but I am rebuilding my studio 1^st to get back to that later just buying it piece by piece.
 
The next system will be an 8 core running Windows 10 64 bit with 64 GB of RAM. All built off of a BioStar 970 motherboard.
 
I am now running Sonar Platinum (yearly subscription) and switched over to Focusrite Mic preamps, fantastic I gotta say. From now on it’s all Focusrite, if it’s good enough for Rupert Neve it’s good enough for me. I have also switched over to Motu MIDI interfaces they actually started in Cambridge around the same time as Cakewalk.
 
No more M audio, of had pretty much all of their products and the last bastion of that was an 8 x 8s MIDI sport MIDI interface, which about 6 months ago just locked up. And as I read that’s a common problem, not to mention they don’t even make them or support them anymore. Now it’s MOTU. All the way.

 No more M-Audio for me as well.  Thanks to Microsoft that will allow my APs, FW410 to still run in W10.  My Oxygen 8 will also run.
 I'm avoiding manufacturers who are good for making doorstops. If I could do it all over again it would be RME.  Still it was hard to beat the AP2496 for price and quality.
 
 

RME is nice but pricey. Focusrite has come down in price and is high quality. I have to stick with my budget you know, and decide what to spend big money on and what not. the memory on my new system is going to cost me around eight hundred bucks, I'm taking my time for a few reasons but one of them is to wait for the price to come down on the memory

Why is the memory that high?  Only reason I can think is Mac or DDR 2.

DDR 2 I believe. Only paid $50 for mb. Its a BioStar 970 I have had good luck with Biostar. I'm just being a pig is all. I could very well start with 16 or 32 gb. I've just dreamed of high memory for yrs. It is max for mb.

Replace the board and go with DDR3.  You can still use your 945.  I've had trouble upgrading DDR2 in AMD machines.
