Hi, it's me again.  


I'm looking to purchase 2 new monitors for my DAW and am looking for reasonable priced suggestions.
I'd like something in the 24" to 27" range.
What resolution should I be looking for? The higher the better?


I've seen some that have 2 HDMI ports, does this mean I can daisy chain 2 together or will that put a strain on my PC?


Are there any TV's that might work at cheaper prices?


I have THIS mobo which has HDMI, DVI, RGB and Display Ports.

Are there any monitors/TV's that have all these connection abilities that anyone knows of?
I'd like to run 3 monitors in the future but don't necessarily want to add an express card just yet if I dont have to.
Also are there any video cards that offer 3 of either HDMI, DVI or RGB ports so that I can run all 3 monitors off of just 1 card or should I just get one with 2 DVI ports and use my 21" monitor through the mobo?


Sigh! so many questions, so little money.

I've got pair of Acer G235H 23" LCDs running 8.3.5.
 
These come on sale pretty often on Amazon or Newegg or Tiger Direct. I think you can get them  for around $140 each.
I use one as HDMI and t'other one VGA.

I HAVE had two failures of my video card, (GeForce 8400) as well as other issues with my Creation Station so I have a new Jim Roseberry repair kit

3 seems to be tough. It looks as tho I may need a video card with 2 VGA ports then hook the 3rd up to the mobo VGA port.

And for the record good ol Jim does indeed rule as does Scott from ADK. 
Both have offered advice/suggestions on my present PC build. 
And I'd like to give kudos to Charles too who supplied me with the knowledge and confidence to attempt my own build. 
If money wasn't so tight I definitely would have gone with ADK or Studiocat for the PC. It was Charles who brought to my attention that when you build your own you don't need all the money at once. You can buy stuff as you have the funds or wait for sales.

If you are saying there are two HDMI sockets on the monitor, that is so that you can hook up two different inputs. Say two different PC's or a PC and a DVD player. More of a convenience issue for an entertainment center, than a real feature for a PC monitor. You cannot daisy chain the inputs like midi through. VGA is getting harder to find on monitors, and is probably on its way out. You might want to look for a video card that has two of the newer outputs. The card will take the brunt of the workload off your computer.

I just bought a Kensington Universal Multi-Display Adapter to run a third monitor and it works great.

I saved hundreds of dollars by waiting for the part I wanted to go on sale somewhere, prices change daily so you have to keep at it.

You can track prices while you're studying up on what to buy and how to build.

Another trick, once you have a list of things, contact a reputable online store and ask what's the best price they can give you for your list.

When I sent an email to NCIX with a question about a product, a salesman answered my question then offered to provide a quote for anything else I might be interested in.
I wasn't quite ready but sent him my list anyway and he knocked off 200$ ! I would never have thought of bargaining over the internet.
Needless to say NCIX got a lot of my business from then on, and I've been happy with them.

Yeah That's what I figured. Run 2 off the video card and one off the mobo.

While looking at PC monitors I've noticed most say 2ms or 5ms.
I take it that would be the refresh rate?

Is there really that much of a difference that I should be looking for 2ms or is that basically a sales pitch thing that no one could even notice?
I know screen resolution is important and there is a minimum requirement for X2 and it appears that most are 1920x1080.
What way would a higher resolution effect Sonar? Will it just be a sharper image or will it make things small and tough to read for my aging eyes? 

If I were to buy a TV instead of a 'monitor' are there any differences in quality?
Does it really matter if you use something with DVI vs. HDMI or is that basically the same quality/different cable type of thing?

'Damn....This boy is just loaded with questions. I wish he would just be done with this already.'  


On the bright side, if the forum search function actually worked all this info might be helpful to others in the future.
I know that PC monitors have been discussed numerous times but 'search' shows no results.
And there is a way to use Google but I always forget the way to do that.
Tried searching for it but apparently the word Google has never been mentioned in these forums.
