  • Is there a way to enlarge text in 2018.06?

It's the same-old, same-old.  The interface text is too small on my 24" screens running at their native resolutions of 1920 X 1200.  It's much too difficult to see from even a couple feet away.

And before it is suggested, I can't change text sizes in Windows because that will mess up the scale in my other software, such as my 3D grapic applications.

Is there a way to adjust text size in the preferences?

I've never seen any way of adjusting text sizes inside the Cakewalk application. The software is designed to be proportional for Desktop, Laptop, Tablet usage, so it shrinks or enlarges proportional to the particular usage.
I think to program or enable application text sizing in Cakewalk would be quite messy, with all the tightly designed menus and drop down menus.

I recommend you to use Win10 function for display ratio.

You could use the "Windows key" together with "Plus +" or "Minus -" keys to temporarily resize the screen.

This key combination starts Window's screen magnifier.

Choose "Full Screen" in settings.

Thanks, but none of these works for me.  There are some applications that allow the user to change the font size of the UI elements.

I guess there are not enough Cakewalk users in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.  Can I make a feature request?  I really don't care how "messy" it gets.  I'm the user but I'm not a user when it's hard to see what I'm doing.

The 2 main options include using a larger monitor or changing the resolution to a smaller size. If you have a 2nd monitor you can set it's resolution smaller so whatever's displayed on it is bigger than the 1st monitor.

FWIW, some other DAWs are way worse than Sonar/CbB for this.

Actually I think it's well know that most of us are old farts because we started back in the 80's with the company and most have remained loyal. We also are known to be grumpy when the topic of people complaining that the DAW actually requires talent to make a good recording is brought up.

You need to find the right monitor. I have crappy eyesight and can read everything just fine on my 28" and 24" screens. Either that or get yourself some reading glasses set for the correct distance your working in. I was getting a sore neck because I was always looking up so as to use the bottom of my progressive lenses. I bought a pair of 2.25 readers ( good quality) and often put those on for longer sessions.

Well, the suggestion for reading glasses came a little later than normal, but there it is.  At least it was made in a nice way; thanks.  :)

Due to the depths of my mixers and keyboard, my monitors are about 20" from my eyes.  I have reading glasses, but they are not appropriate for that distance.

But we're getting off track here.  I'm not really asking for more things to try; I was asking if the ability for the user to adjust fonts was present in the software, and if so, how to change them.

I do appreciate the suggestions and the willingness to help, but I've tried it all.  Modifying the font sizes in any way outside of the application  will make my other applications misbehave, especially any graphic apps that use measurements.  Because of that, I'd be changing resolutions several times each day.  Dedicating a side monitor to a single application is not an optimal solution either, since my keyboard and mixer are directly in front of me, and it's better if my spine isn't always twisted in some way.

I think now I need to know how do I make an official feature request?  I want to ask for user-adjustable UI and font sizes within the application because no other solutions work for me.

Other applications allow this, so although it is probably difficult, it is not an impossible task.

The trouble with a feature request for this is- unless 1,000's of people have this issue, it will be a very low priority.
My take is the new company, Bandlab, is more focused on getting the younger people making music, even if they have absolutely no musical abilities. So development is focused on those sort of features. The rest of us are happy enough that we have what we have and that Cakewalk continues to be supported.

I appreciate the explanation.  But it sounds like you're suggesting that I shouldn't bother asking even if I can't use the software.
