Again, thank you so much for your kind words!

I've had some interest in presenting the film at the Gottlieb again. Send me a PM and I'll notify you when we have a solid date. If you have VR googles or a tablet you can explore one of the scenes in 360x360 on the app Littlstar. Just download the app and search for "Once and Future". You'll need a stout connection to stream it in full 4K quality, but it is pretty cool to be able to look in any direction within the scene.

I've thought about converting the entire film to VR, but it's probably a little early to gauge which format and software will become the standard going forward.

Congrats Bently, this is a unique project and very cool to see. Wish I could watch it in a planetarium!
You mention using Vienna in the blog. I'm curious if you are using more than 16 channels by taking advantage of the VST3 MIDI buses in SONAR with Vienna? Its a cool way to get even more polyphony and organize the sounds into different buses.

Hello Noel,

Thank you for your kind words. The film is available in 4K fisheye format, so just about any planetarium with a modern digital projection system can present it. (Perhaps a word of interest to your local planetarium can make that happen.)

Jimmy was a pleasure to work with and I thought he did a great job of breaking down a complex story into an easily understood article.

I started with VEP before Sonar was VST3 compatible. I used VEP Event Input if I needed to route more than 16 channels into a single instance of VEP. I experimented with VST3 when Sonar first adopted the standard, but at that time the 'expanded midi channels' portion of VST3 wasn't implemented in Sonar. Perhaps I'll try again, now that Sonar supports that function.

I'm not working on any projects that require a large orchestral template right now, but here is an orchestral theme I did for a direct-to-video SciFi film a while back:

You can also hear some of this type of scoring in my composers demo:

This is very well-stated.  It's exactly how I felt once I got my head around his story ;) thanks for reading. jl

Just read the blog earlier today...   good stuff!   Aside from some very nice music and some really cool images, it was an interesting all-around read.
