All I see it the peanut gallery reply's, nothing from the hundreds of users...
Black & orange is not a theme when nothing else is in contrast.
and as far as changing it back... that's a no! all you can change is the contrast of the black and orange!
bright, dark, mono, normal. I guess the biggest point is that the UI hype was just that hype.

As far as CW predicted what the UI will become! You're talking about a few hours of work by a real artist to complete many real themes OR a few thousand dollars to pay a programmer over the spring just to get black and orange!

...

As a matter of fact, you can change it back. There is now a Theme setting in preferences. You may keep the new look or select the original in preferences. Right now it's not as good as the tools that Panu has, but it's a start. I'm thinking that improvements will become part of the monthly updates.

thanks for the info, I'll look into it. :)
But like I said... the fix need not be months! it's a day a theme for an artist! Not a theme a season for a programmer...

Really? Maybe the bakers should consider getting an artist who understands pallets! It's apparent to me that a programmer is trying to get SpLat to look good...  Yea! That's NOT going to work! Orange and black... Halloween!?
and nothing else looks right together... lol
Maybe you should start over with a basic UI in black, white and levels for grey as the default then the user can chose a base color/s to fill in the greys. Cakewalk, you want the best!? it needs to look the best and the person you have messing it up now cannot get it done! YOU NEED an ARTIST!

How bout commentators who understand the difference between pallet and palette?
For my .02 cents I think it looks awesome and easy to see due to the contrasts.

Hmmm-This is weird because I just logged in to comment on the UI when I saw this post. What I was going to say is-

Thank You Cake--For this old guy-Everything just seems much, much clearer-almost akin to a mix where everything sits well and can be heard. I see better than I have in a while. I am not so much talking colors-but the default-even the orange -everything seems much sharper - more defined. I guess maybe this only helps old guys like me but I love it. Lots of definition. Just my 2 cents

I have no emotion in this, lol that's how you read it... I just know what I see in the UI is... and know what it could be. so I said so... lol just as always...

yea right, tell me right now that you can see the meter digits well in smoky white and smoky gray...

So change it-why so emotional and negative towards other users opinions? Do you think I am lying in my post above? Jeeezzzzzz

i can respect the fact that every one has their own opinion but im not even sure what your complaining about ?
we have the option to switch back and forth from the new theme to the old theme.
i think its a great start by cakewalk and so far comments, reviews have been very positive.

Yoda, thanks for pointing me to the themes, I flew right by them to colors... :)

and the "illusion" of a new theme will seem to look better then and old theme... now after looking into the black theme for a few days set it back and see what you think....

Well, I'm a programmer and I work with UX and UI folks all the time.  One thing I can tell you from my 30+ years in software dev is, you can never please everybody, and if you wait a couple years between cycles, tastes swing like a pendulum, light to dark, dark to light, colorful to muted, etc.

Personally, I too like the new dark theme very much, and popped in to say as much, so thanks for the opportunity.  Being a Cake user since the DOS days, I can say with confidence that it only gets better and better and I am thankful for all these amazing years working with this outstanding software.  Do I have a list of gripes? You betcha, but that's life.  My car isn't as awesome as I would like it to be, and I could use another ****-ton of guitars, but... I still love what I've got :)

once again, I'm not complaining... I'm just saying that... so far SPlat, it looks like crap! and what the Bakers have done to fix it has done nothing to fix it... and they would have not tried to fix it if they thought it was good in the first place...

As I said, they need an artist who can put out a theme a day and stop paying a programmer for a half a theme a season...

I love Halloween! May be I'll put some pumpkins as my wallpaper. BOO! Davey Boy!

I think this Theme is like someone turned the lights on. Spot on! Love it. I am sure there will be other Themes in the future.

Just change it to Mercury if you don't like it. Why complain about something you can change?
