Well, I'm a programmer and I work with UX and UI folks all the time.  One thing I can tell you from my 30+ years in software dev is, you can never please everybody, and if you wait a couple years between cycles, tastes swing like a pendulum, light to dark, dark to light, colorful to muted, etc.
 
Personally, I too like the new dark theme very much, and popped in to say as much, so thanks for the opportunity.  Being a Cake user since the DOS days, I can say with confidence that it only gets better and better and I am thankful for all these amazing years working with this outstanding software.  Do I have a list of gripes? You betcha, but that's life.  My car isn't as awesome as I would like it to be, and I could use another ****-ton of guitars, but... I still love what I've got :)

The good old DOS days.. 12 tone midi... you got to love it! I still have my floppy's in the teal and white box... ;)
I worked in Game development as a artist and art had to fly out from the art gods fast... and the programmers took forever and ever and ever... TWO different type humans... crazy dayz and it all got done!

once again, I'm not complaining... I'm just saying that... so far SPlat, it looks like crap! and what the Bakers have done to fix it has done nothing to fix it... and they would have not tried to fix it if they thought it was good in the first place...
 
As I said, they need an artist who can put out a theme a day and stop paying a programmer for a half a theme a season...

Dave000 Of course you may voice your opinion- But your opinion is just that....AS I said I have been CW for a long time-the 2006 is just this forum. We had others way before this. Anyway after the update I really saw a very big difference. I wear glasses and the contrast, definition, whatever you want to call it was immediately noticeable for me-in a very positive way. I will not tire of it-I tired of all the changes I have tried to make over the years to get this clarity. I am not trying to start an argument but please give the rest of us a little credit...We don't think it "looks like crap" sorry. And please check the join dates of the people that have commented so far-even though only a few at this point. Not like we are new to the game. I hope you get it set to something that makes you a bit happier. Also yes I can see the meters fin
e-I did change the Marker color immediately in the TV.

see there is a way to voice your opinion without insulting cakewalks programmers and developers.
this is a great forum we have here, people jump at the chance to help others.
and the time frame is faster then any other site i have ever been a part of. your not waiting days for someone to answer a post about a problem you may have.
 
but when you present your opinions in such negative fashions, it is complaining.
theres a way to do it with grace.
 
like i said, i love this new them and i think by reading the reply's from this thread, not 1 person agrees with your view on thinking this theme is a waste.

I think this Theme is like someone turned the lights on. Spot on! Love it. I am sure there will be other Themes in the future.
 
Just change it to Mercury if you don't like it. Why complain about something you can change?

Yea I hate orange as a rule.. ;) lol... but I can see it's like CW's fab color... lol

i don't think and wouldn't say it looks like crap, i wasn't sure about some of the color choices myself, but hey, i still think it looks quite good. it reminds me very much of a couple of reaper custom themes. the only time people will ever be 100% pleased by something is when they have the ability to change the bits they don't like to be how they want them. if you are like me and couldn't really be bothered nor have the desire to be learning to do that and would prefer to be playing and recording you take what you get, get use to it and carry on. sonar isn't even my main daw and i don't use it much any longer, but i do think the lifetime membership is pretty awesome (i jumped on that straight away), and this latest release seems pretty good (although i haven't installed the final official yet, just the early release), the first time i have updated since manchester. i still stay with my other daw and keep an eye on sonar, after all in for life now with no added extra cost (extras excluded)

I'm sorry if I don't have a sugar coat switch... ha! Facts are facts, it looks like what it is and I can't believe no one has commented on at least the meters... if you cant agree with me on that then I know your just kissing up to CW... Just tell me you can see the digits as good as you want to see them... anyone?

Hey, yea just let me work! but when I booted 2016. 5... man what I see was mush... I reset the meters myself and that fine, and I will fish though the weeds and be happy creating! :) so that makes me happy. but sometime CW needs to know what people other then the peanut gallery things... BTW, I have been really happy with lots of stuff coming out... :) but I don't normally waste my days here telling the world... CW is so close now to perfection in my view for my needs that, I want to push at them and poke them to get the UI to ROCK! as I am just hanging at home, multi tasking on here and with other stuff... more just for fun then anything... got a busy few weeks of nothing going on but fun! and it started here! lol

i will have a look after i update to the official final and let you know about the meter thing, i didn't take much notice only to the overall look. as i say sonar is not my main daw and i have no emotional attachment to it or the company, no disrespect to either

I believe Dave000 is really Dave Trump, Donald's lost brother. His comments sound very familiar. Maybe he should switch to decaf. Really dude, does Tungsten bother you that much? How do you handle real issues in life?

Everyone has different views. Its okay if you dont like it. I am sure there will be someone else too sharing your view. But this thread looks like a troll thread is't it. When everyone's happy abt something you can just start a thread naming it as UGLY :D that will cause lot of fuzz. There are 2-3 dedicated threads already were people are extensively discussing about the new UI. You could have just posted your comment there. That would have been right.
