I also wonder if Dave may have a badly calibrated monitor. I'm simply not seeing what Dave seems to see. The meter numbers are for me much easier to see in Tungsten then they were in Mercury.

If you look at the screen shot I did of it here I think you will see how I see it. http://forum.cakewalk.com...in-Sonar-m3420096.aspx

Well it's more then one system so... but I guess I can say that as a pro 2d/3d ARTIST as well as selling hundreds of painting within the US that one summer just for fun, I know what I like and yea, taste or lack of can sets a theme... Some have taste... utility is utility and the old theme and the new theme are the same to me... I set my theme back to the old one, meters are no better, so I changed them as I have always done with older Sonar ver. as well...
Just can't change many things that I could un the past... Bakers, just give me ONE theme that I can see everything on out of the oven... that's all I ask!
I set this post to say how I feel about the skin (UI) and I really don't care what others think... just a mild diversion to my life... ;) HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND folks! Remember the troops!

Dave000, why are so certain that the programmers created the theme?  Noel mentioned Cakewalk's graphic designers in another thread, so they do have artists available.  As a software developer myself, I'd be surprised if Cakewalk had a developer or two create this theme.

I have no problem with you not liking the theme (there's a few things about it I'd change, and will when Cakewalk supplies the needed tools).  But you're bashing the developers without knowing anything about what they actually did is not cool.

I don't log into here often although I do read the comments sometimes (like after an update/upgrade etc.).
I had to log on today to say "I LOVE IT" and Dave0000 should use less colorful language when expressing his views and opinions.  That way we would not get "up each other's backs" ...

Tone it down, guys.

lol, well in the US we have that freedom of speech thing going on so... yea... ;)

Having freedom of speech does not give you carte blanche to say exactly what you want to who you want.

Well, you can try but don't be surprised if people react accordingly.

i found after a very short time the things that seemed a little off to me, and that i immediately took a dislike to, ie the orange (and some other bits), i don't even notice any longer and are no longer objectionable

BTW... people not in the software field don't realize that most programmers don't believe that they need artists...
FACT!

All I can say is your initial statement of programmers making up the UI is incorrect.  This was done by a graphic artist that's been very active in our space.
What developers do spend time on is integrating and building features as well as revising existing features to improve them.  My group lives in the IDE working with C++ days/nights, not in Photoshop.

This is how I see the meter default.

Though I sit at least 5 feet away...
Carry on...

Really? Maybe the bakers should consider getting an artist who understands pallets! It's apparent to me that a programmer is trying to get SpLat to look good...  Yea! That's NOT going to work! Orange and black... Halloween!?
and nothing else looks right together... lol
Maybe you should start over with a basic UI in black, white and levels for grey as the default then the user can chose a base color/s to fill in the greys. Cakewalk, you want the best!? it needs to look the best and the person you have messing it up now cannot get it done! YOU NEED an ARTIST!

I can't believe there are 2 pages of follow-up comments legitimizing this post. . .

I'll admit, that is very hard to see.  I'm using the segmented meters which are clear and easy to see.  I'm not sure that's how the solid meters are supposed to look.  Someone using solid meters will have to comment.  There's been some color issues with menus for some people.  Maybe this is related.
