I held off upgrading to the Life model because I thought there'd be more information to come as part of the Announcement.

I know it's been a topic before but none of the discussions I've read clearly define exactly what is going to be included in "Core Sonar" and what we'd have to buy separately.

Unless I missed something?

You will have to buy any future add-ons, like new plugins or soft synths. Core features and enhancements are included.

DimPro, Rapture and a host of other synths are included (now, or as LE versions), but I paid for Concrete Limiter.
On the other hand, we did not pay for the LP pair of mastering FX, nor Drum Replacer.

This is where I appeal to the Bakers for some clarity. What is core, what is an add-on, what is an enhancement?

Instruments, Content, Expansion Packs, Videos, Plugins, and stuff like that can always be considered as add-ons. So no guarantee they will be included in future versions. That's always been the case though. Unfortunately, we can't reveal our entire product roadmap and go feature by feature, what we can release is on our site for now.  I do think that core improvements will be a big focus. Making existing features better. And that's because customers have overwhelmingly asked for it. We went through a period earlier this year adding some new features that appealed more to new customers. It was an important step. Now it's time to focus on editing, comping, and take management. There are many other areas we'd like to improve on moving forward as well.

If I understand correctly, what you´re buying is Sonar Platinum - whatever Platinum consists of any given year - for Platinums lifetime. I.e. it would be hard to say now exactly what will be included in 2022 or 2018.

From the FAQ:
"Are Lifetime Updates available only for SONAR Platinum?
Yes, currently, Lifetime Updates are only available if you buy, upgrade, or crossgrade to SONAR Platinum."

If you´re already a Platinum-subscriber, at 199$ it seems like a no-brainer to me - even if lifetime was expected to be only 3 years. (a user in the CH claimed that he had 2037 as end date - CH is perhaps not the most reliable source for info though )

Platinum was the premium product. By signing up for it we were going to get special content and features that were unique to Platinum. I wonder if that's now a done deal. Sounds to me like it's over and now we pay for the Platinum extra's. IT only lasted a year until a "better" idea came along.

Platinum is still the premium product. Platinum lifetime is the same product with core updates free for life.
Don't confuse this with different feature sets which is what separates Artist and professional from platinum. e.g artist doesn't contain the prochannel but Platinum does. The lifetime version of platinum will get all functional updates to the prochannel code and fixes. But it doesn't mean that the lifetime version will get all new prochannel modules offered for sale. Hope this clarifies?

So does Platinum lifetime qualify for things like Theme Editor, Plug-in load balancing, Ripple editing, and others in the Oven?

Also, what about the phone support that we currently do not have?? At least it isn't working for me, just get a screen that says 'oops, sorry there are no slots available'. I've been trying for a few weeks now.
