If you are so skeptical/worried, then why not just opt out and continue with the existing model of annual updates (paid in full, or monthly)? That is not going away.

 
That's missing the point.  Regardless of the level of skepticism, why is it a problem to seek clarification on this? Noel was quick to jump in on other questions - but I've still not seen a response that allays the risk that 'Lifetime' may be shorter than many expect dependent on the scope of the terms.

Read this from KVR -Cakewalk Announcement has cleared my questions:
 
"From June 1 through August 31 2016, purchasing or upgrading to SONAR Platinum will give the buyer free, lifetime updates of any future core features, enhancements, and fixes. Customers who purchase SONAR Platinum with Lifetime Updates will never again need to pay for another renewal of the Rolling Updates plan."

How ironic that you had to go to KVR to read about SOANR rather than here (where the same statement can be found).
