They should have made these 3 announcements separately,  at different dates.

No. Because if they'd announced only the Mac thing, the forums would have lit up with people complaining "Oh, there won't be any more Windows development, SONAR is doomed, I don't like the Mac anyway, now all the resources will go to the Mac, blah blah uninformed blah." By emphasizing at the same time an extended commitment to doing MORE of the optimizations and fixes that have been happening in recent months, although it still didn't prevent those determined to be negative from being negative, those who think rationally and understand the concept of a "common code base" realize what's happening.

As to lifetime updates, it was first announced in May but with certain restrictions. When it become obvious people thought it was pretty cool to get updates for life for $99 or whatever, then it went out to a wider group of people starting June 1.

It's like saying "Hey pizza guys, at this years party we're having an all you can eat pizza buffet with unlimited toppings. Plus you taco guys are invited too with tacos all around. Plus cake and ice cream for all."

The pizza guys are like " I don't even like tacos, How is that good for me? Waaah! :(

Right, so, in this analogy, I'm a hamburger guy, and hamburgers haven't been on offer for years.  I eat the pizza and the tacos, which I'm used to and taste good.  But what I'd really like is a juicy hamburger.  I'm tired of more pizza and tacos, which seems to be the norm now. No matter how many toppings you add to a pizza, it isn't a hamburger.

Then your solution is to go to a place that serves hamburgers, not complain to the pizzeria that they don't serve hamburgers.

you nailed it, as usual, Craig!  I've been blown away over the past year and this announcement bodes well to me.  I'm truly stoked.

And, I've taken the advantage of removing all the riff raff cluttering up my personal space. That blocking feature is nice.

At risk of flogging a dead horse, you could say though that what has always been a hamburger store has suddenly decided to serve pizzas, and wants the hamburger guy to get excited about it :)

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm the vegetarian guy that doesn't give a rats **** either way:)

What do you want? Blood?

Is the blood compatible with both PC and Mac?

I think we're kinda missing the point of the original analogy. So let me clear it up.
Pizza guys= Sonar users on Windows.
all you can eat pizza buffet with unlimited toppings= Unlimited updates
Taco guys can join the party= Mac user getting Sonar
Tacos all round= Sonar on Mac
Ice cream and cake for all= New features and enhancements.

I assume everyone here is a Sonar windows user ie Pizza guy. Burgers, hotdogs, chicken on a stick whatever! Switch out whatever you like if it makes you feel better. Point is we all get something pretty cool. Why complain?

I wasn't really commenting on your analogy fresh - nor am I complaining. It bothers me not whether Cakewalk do a mac version or release it as binary code on an abacus! As long they continue to develop a windows version I'm a happy camper:)   I simply stole the endless food metaphor to make a point as to why others may be surprised.
