I noticed a huge improvement over a couple of consecutive updates late last year, and things have been ticking along consistently ever since. Did you skip any updates? Can't say I have noticed particular improvements beyond asthetics this update.

I mentioned in another thread that my core balancing seems better with the current version. Doesn't seem faster than last month. Cakewalk should write a little program to control the performance module in the control bar. We would all be cheering because the little core bars were all aligned, and talking about how much faster it seems.

I apologize for using this thread for something else, my problem is solved. Yes I did lose my drivers for Audio 6, but the problem was due to a Windows 10 update in the background while launching Sonar 2016.05.
I reinstalled the drivers, increased my buffer on the interface and all is running well. Again, I apologize. I've never had a problem with SPlat of any type before...
For the 20 or so hours without Audio 6, ASIO4ALL2 was sounding crystal clear...

Win10 looks great, but things like this make me wanna stay with Win8 as long as possible.

There may be a performance boost due to ongoing CW tweaking. I have noticed improvements in the past roll outs. I haven't noticed one here but it maybe they're just not as noticeable to me.

If you skipped updates there were definitely changes in prior versions this year that affected performance including switching to a newer compiler with more code optimizations. Between 04 and 05 the biggest changes were to the UI code for dynamic theming. Its possible that some changes in that area optimized UI performance but it would be hard to find what exactly since there were a lot of changes. There were also some changes to VST handling in prep for an upcoming feature but I wouldn't expect that to have made a big change.
Anyway I'm glad to hear of a positive improvement :)

"Changes to VST handling in prep for an upcoming feature"?
Now I'm intrigued......;)
Veerrry sneaky slipping that little teaser in there.

Yes, I had the feeling of improvements as well, especially when it came to MIDI editing in the PRV.  Even with a modest amount of instruments and MIDI data in the PRV in the past, the scrolling and screen activity would lag terribly.  Right now it's been drastically reduced - same for the large number of clips on the track view pane.  Definite optimization improvements on my end.

Hope that clip splitting issue is next on the chopping block.... pun intended! :D

I can also vouch for the balancing of the cores, or that's what the meters say.
The UI is a welcome help for tired eyes too.

Noel has now clarified if there was a speed increase this release it's my imagination.

Maybe orange takes less power than blue and somehow it sped up anyway..
