Maybe no difference in performance / speed overall, but still, cores are definitely more balanced than previous updates, in the performance monitor. Perhaps it's part of the big announcements, but no one wants to confirm yet.
I see a significant visual change at least.

My songs are playing just as fast as before.

I jumped from Manchester to 2016.05 and projects most definitely open faster. Overall core balancing was pretty good in Manchester, but it does seem a little more balanced now.

2016.05 seems to take longer to startup than some earlier versions (to get to the start screen with recent projects).  2016.04 wasn't any better.   This is on Win 10 with an i7 3770, 16GB RAM and an SSD on a SATA III motherboard port (Port 0).

VST scan (if run on auto-scan at startup) seems to take longer, too, despite no plugs having changed ...

That's interesting.  Startup in 2016.05, was one are that I thought was a little better compared to previous versions.
