IMO, selected clips don't show the MIDI data as well, contrast is off, to me. I'm going to see if I can tweak this. it's the only criticism I have so far of the new theme, which mostly I like.

I don't see any difference with how selected MIDI clips are displayed with the Tungsten theme. Can you elaborate?
Perhaps you have some custom colors that are affecting this?

Noel,
Attached are screenshots of selected MIDI clips on the Mercury and Tungsten themes using the Normal color scheme in Preferences.  On my system, the MIDI notes in the tracks 1, 4, and 5 are nearly invisible in the Tungsten theme.  My monitor is calibrated and color managed, so my contrast and brightness are not turned up all the way as most monitors are set by default.  I assume the theme designs were completed on a color managed monitor.

Hope this helps,

Go to the colour section in preferences. There's a drop down with several options like dark, bright, mono, etc. If you change this setting it will change the contrast for several things in the track view. I think that will help you.

Noel, for me the contrast between the selected clip background and midi data in that clip is somehow off a bit, hard to explain, but there wasn't enough contrast for me. It's as if the Midi data I was used to seeing was harder to see or somehow didn't look sharp enough, which caused some eye fatigue. And I had no customization of colors going on, just using the new theme as it was displayed upon my update. However, I was able to use a custom slider to increase the contrast a bit and this helps me out, so it's not a problem, really.  Keep in mind my eyesight isn't all that great, to be honest, but I never really noticed this as an issue before.
Thanks.

Yeah, that's nice. There is now no doubt if an effect is enabled or not. - thank you.
Oh and Bronco Orange. That's right. Patriots bad, Broncos good, Patriots bad, Broncos good.

I believe it's for Sonar Professional and Artist as well.

Btw, I love the default theme (except that it's named after a toxic chemical element). I'm re-realizing how full of life it is (with full-colored strips). I prefer the blue/black contrast over orange/black. Love the beautiful Control Bar especially. But I'm happy that many are happy with the new dark theme. At least I no longer have to see some people complaining about the GUI being gray.

I love the new theme too.  The only thing that I would have personally enjoyed better was to have the transport buttons (and other buttons too) given a 3D beveled look.  Some people say that's been overdone already, but I think the 3D buttons look so much better than just plain flat.
But I'm just nitpicking.  The new theme is great and when I first opened up Sonar and saw it, I just sat there and looked at it for awhile with a big smile on my face.

Does anyone know if there will be a customization utility for making your own UI. (Not just changing colors) but to create entirely new buttons and levers (like 3D)?

I hate to spoil the party, but I am not entirely sold on the new look. I mean, I like it a lot and those orange buttons are great.
But, adding a colour to a track results in a mere narrow strip at the bottom in console view which renders the feature rather useless to be honest. It would be great if at least the volume slider (and possibly the gain and pan dials) would change the colour too. It's not of much help as it is.

I was trying to find the documentation that I read when I installed, but can't seem to remember. It's been a long weekend. It stated that in the future, all of the themes will have the full color strips, including Tungsten. My personal request for the future is for the fx menus to match the interface instead of being white. Looking forward to the full reveal for editing and creating themes.
