  • Roland VS 700 R Compressor Setup for vocal Recording , I Need help, thanks

I use Cakewalk Sonar X3 and now I want Record the First Time vocals. But I have no expierence with the Compressor Setup of the VS 700 R. Can you give me any Input? Thanks ;-)

If the compressor is after the vocal signal has been converted from analog to digital, it will not stop clipping of the input signal. It's too late. 
Therefore it's only purpose is as an effect. 
Myself I would rather not ruin a take by PRINTING an effect to the track. 
You cannot undo it latter. 
Our goal is always record carefully without clipping your pre amp and A/D convertors. 
 
You need an analog compressor if you are going to control input peaking. 
 
A digital compressor is only an effect to get a certain sound, nothing wrong with that if you get it right and are happy with the results. But what is the point if you can get the same rusults with the option to adjust it after it is recorded.  My self I would just record clean and then use the Tracks Bin to add a compressor durring mixing.
