guys every darn synth I put into a project is coming out of my left monitor only which is driving me nuts.  Audio tracks are fine and are playing through both monitors.  Can anyone tell me please how i get my synths to play in stereo so to speak...i.e both monitors.    thanks guys.

Check your routing.
Are the VST audio tracks showing both meters moving?
Are they routed to a Master buss or sub buss?
There might be a MIDI pan envelope check your PVR or event list.

Mono effects in stereo buses can be trouble if there is one in the path.

Also check whatever applet comes with your interface. I always wondered why stereo inputs to my PreSonus Studio 192 were in mono...until I remembered to pan left and right in the interface's Universal Control applet

Hi lads     The applet that comes with the M Audio only shows the latency settings.
Johnny, the routing looks like this.   The parent MIDI track shows the Midi keyboard in.  Out goes to whatever synth is being used.  Then the parent midi track has a sort of sub track.  It's in is the synth and out is master.
Yes the meters are all moving and even panning left and right didnt make a difference.
But....I noticed something i did wrong.
I added a new synth as a test and took a good look at the properties screen when you are adding a synth.
It asks if you want to add a simple instrument track or a midi track.  Other options are Midi Source , Synth Track folder etc.       What i never never noticed were the two options  All Synth Audio Outputs : Mono
and All Synth Audio Outputs : Stereo       Looks like I must have chosen mono because when i tried a new test synth and chose stereo it fixed the problem.     The so my question now is.  If you chose the wrong option by mistake when adding a synth.  Is the only option to remove and re add it choosing the correct option?
That options screen you see when adding a synth, i was trying to see if I could call it up by going to the tracks properties etc but I couldn't.  I could only get that screen when adding a synth.  Thanks all

If you add a synth that has only one stereo audio out, and you select "All Synth Audio Outputs : Stereo" in Cakewalk, that is what you get, one stereo track for the synth in the console.

If you choose "All Synth Audio Outputs : Mono" in that case, you will get two tracks in the Cakewalk console, that added together equal the one stereo synth output (L+R).  But you should be able to pan either track in either direction.

The track outputs will always be stereo if you are using a stereo master bus (or any stereo bus).  So regardless of the synth track sources being either stereo or mono, you are outputting each track to a stereo bus in the Cakewalk console.

If you are only seeing one side, something is wrong with your setup somewhere.

You don't need to remove the synth if you are not happy with your track choice when adding the synth.  You can adjust the track settings any way you wish afterwards.
