...wicked

Oh dude take off your tin-foil hat. If SONAR lasts just ONE more year* your investment will have paid for itself. Stop looking for evil when there is none.

Not at all looking for evil or tin-foil hat conspiracies, just been in the business world (no not Cakewalk's) a long time, and have seen too many times to ignore. It's not the "investment" I'm concerned about. As it has been said before, $99-$149 is a good meal and bottle of wine. I will continue to use Sonar for as long as I can keep my computer alive. I have and will continue to support Cake by purchasing their products whether I use them or not. (although a Platinum owner, I still do most projects in X3).

Okay, but with all due respect, you haven't analyzed Cakewalk's. STEAM and Music Creator provide substantial sources of income that are not impacted one bit by Platinum users who renewed getting lifetime updates. Ditto instrument and plug-ins sales, including those for the Mac. I think Cakewalk has a much more diversified portfolio of revenue sources than you realize, and for which there have been no "MAJOR paradigm shifts."

Very true, I haven't "analyzed Cakewalk's".  Craig, I am not trying to argue, please don't take it that way.

OK I've been around here for a very long time. I have watched CW do all sorts of deals and promotions.  They have never reneged on any of them.  CW's reputation is one where even the ones that have been very upset with them will admit to CW's forthrightness. The fact they are here on their day off speaks volumes. I can't see anything wrong in being a little disbelieving about such a radical proposal but I wonder how one can come to any conclusion that CW is not to be taken at their word. One has to ask when was the last time CW lied or even misled anyone?

My view is simple here. I don't see how a member can post this sort of thread in good faith. I just don't get it.

I love the idea but once I read the lifetime updates are availible for purchase through the end of August I figured I would wait to see what they are talking about on the 1st of june. I'm always skeptical of quickly giving up cash.

Hey,

I just realized that my Sonar Platinum membership ended March 7, 2016.
That is probably why I did not receive the $99 lifetime offer.
So can I still get the lifetime membership?

When does the lifetime membership offer expire?

Please help.

Now I've not always agreed with some of the features and have had my grips about
UI features (like every ADD musician does)
but ive yet to see even a glimmer of being screwed by this company. so why now ?
because they are throwing out a great offer ?

well I can respect those who need more info, those who are cautious. I can respect that.
one does have to ask the motives behind this offer. so like I said, I can respect the curiosity factor.
but don't think for one second this company wont keep its word. in almost 20 years it has kept its promises and in some cases, gone the extra mile to satisfy its customers.
this company is run by guys just yourself, a bunch of musicians, creative ones at that.

so do I put my trust in them ? do I have faith in Cakewalk ?
you bet your sweet ass I do.

I own Studio One 3 Professional and Sonar Platinum. Right now I happen to like Studio One 3 layout much better than Sonar Platinum. This being said when I received my 99.00 offer from Cakewalk I jumped all over it because I know that Cakewalk is always moving forward and will constantly better their DAW. Now I never have to worry about making that decision if I should do the next years upgrade again. I can go back to the latest and greatest version of Sonar whenever I want without worrying about what it will cost and who knows at some point I may drop upgrades to Studio One when I feel Sonar meets my whims and needs.

Thank you Cakewalk for making my life so much easier and less stressful! Peace and out...
