• SONAR
  • Winzip can't add .asset files to archive

I realize this isn't a Sonar issue but I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I recently got Winzip Pro to use to archive my Sonar recordings. Everything works fine except ".cwp.assets" files. When I try to zip those, whether alone, or within a folder I get an error message from Winzip: "No files were found for this operation - Nothing to do." The asset files are about 4KB each and are definitely not empty. I'm certain the files were selected before clicking "Add to zip."
Anyone else experiencing this, or is it me?
Thanks

I do not create asset files. They serve no purpose since Gobbler integration is no more. Deselecting "Save Asset Manifests with Project" in Preferences > File > Advanced  prevents asset file creation.

Also do not have Winzip installed. I use 7-Zip.

The .assets files are for Gobbler. They are not necessary unless you use Gobbler.
Here is how to disable their generation.

I haven't ever tried to compress .asset files, but you can most certainly delete them without affecting your projects. They were for use with gobbler.

Edit: Sorry - was typing whilst Microapp and scook posted:)

Why do need Winzip? Zip file integraton has been part of Windows since Vista, IIRC.
Do you use batch files to archive your projects? Just curious.

Thanks for all of the responses. I appreciate it. I'll disable generation of asset files for new projects. I did find out that my existing asset files were set as "hidden." Apparently that's the way Sonar writes them. It requires over-riding the default setting in Winzip to get it to process hidden files.

To answer the question, I was hoping to use zip backup to to do incremental backups of my projects.
