Hey guys, just curious of your reviews on audiosnap in sonar platinum. I currently run X3 and do lots of drum editing for rock and metal productions. Is there anything about it you feel is different than x3, and in a good or bad way?

I'm hoping that if I upgrade to platinum, that it will be less buggy and streamline the drum editing workflow. The videos seem enticing but I'd like to hear your experiences

It's more or less the same although I think the detection algorithm in SPlat is maybe a touch worse than X3.
 
That all said, I've done literally hundreds of tracks of metal drums in SPlat by now, and if you know how to work around the detection weirdness in AudioSnap (search back through my replies, we had a good discussion about how to overcome that in the Techniques forum, I believe?), the rest of the program more than makes up for it and is rock solid stable.
 
Just importing templates in to record new drum takes is stupid fast. I can load up 24 mics, all input assigned and armed in a couple of seconds. I can run drum subgroups and effects right in the track view using Aux tracks now. It's seriously a massive timesaver and great workflow enhancement. Upgrading is a no-brainer.

Lord Tim, thanks for the input, and I've found the reply you were referring to. I'll definitely be giving the gate trick a shot, in hopes of more accurate detection. Even in x3 before I upgrade haha. This is a part of the recording process that consumes far too much of my time and I'd like to streamline the process. Thank you again

Not a problem, and I hear ya - if I never had to edit another drum track or comp another vocal track (or worse, a huge bank of voices in a backing vocal choir) I'd be a happy guy! HAHA!
