X3 user...Trying to create 3 or 4 part harmony vocal parts with the Melodyne version that came with Sonar X3....I quickly found out after viewing some tutorial videos the version I have, essentials, does not contain the editing tools I think I need....after floundering around trying to decide if all the harmonized blob pitches are right , after highlight short phrases at a time and moving them to what appears to be the correct leading harmonized pitch (it still sounds weirdly off), I'm drawing the conclusion , the results are just going to sound too bizarre and fake unless I can tweak the 'formant' setting among other things....the version with X3 doesn't have that editing option....how much more dinero do I have to fork over to get the version that has that, anyone know?

I have the full version of Melodyn. I bought it direct from Celemony for years with regulary updates.
We spent many hours to make a 4 part harmony with melodyne - but it never sounded really good.
Now we get better background vocals with the hardware "TC Helicon Voiceworks Plus".
In my opinion Melodyne is perfect to correct a single voice - but no so good to make harmony vocal parts.

Why fake it?

Why not just sing the extra parts?

They are higher in range that I can hit and it's a cover with harmony background parts that I can't clearly pick out to hear the pitches even I could hit the note lol , so I click whole phrases and drag the whole phrase up to pitches that sound close and then possibly edit/move individual blobs if necessary is what I've been doing..

The Melodyne 4 comparison chart located in the link below shows that Melodyne 4 Essentials is the lowest version for Melodyne.   If you are really going to use this product, it it would be well worth it to upgrade at least to Melodyne Assistant for the $149 upgrade price.

They had a deal that ended in April I believe...

Do it now! A few places probably still have the sale in place...Audiodeluxe.com (I know fer sure...just checked...I got it there myself last month) $125.99 for the upgrade to Studio 4! (you have to put it in the cart to see the super discounted price.) Audiodeluxe told me previously this sale price will go to 4/30 then no more...

Contact them directly.  I missed a deal a couple of years back and they extended the deal to me anyway.  Definately the full product is the way to go.  I just hide the Melodyne Essentials install in Command Center.
