I am trying to create a basic midi click track (that will act as a simple timing "like drums"). I am creating a quick "How To Guitar Riff" and am only using three tracks (Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar and a midi click track).

Sad to say I rarely have worked with midi. I am running Sonar version 2.2 and it comes pre-loaded with a few midi synths such as 'Edirol'.

If anyone can walk me through this I would really appreciate it.

When I am finished creating all three tracks, I'd like to mix them down and have the midi click track in the final mix (.wav file).

I'm not positive I can help you, but at least I can bump this to the top where the good guys will see it. :-)  I don't have Sonar 2.2, so I'm not exactly sure how different that is to what I have, but here goes.

You'll need a midi track and a synth track.  Direct the midi track's output to the synth track and choose Edirol.  In Edirol can you choose drums? 

Then open piano roll view (alt 5?).  With your mouse, click on the first beat (you'll see a grid, with the rectangles representing beats per measure and instruments available (or notes if you're playing a piano piece.)  I don't know how to find the snare and kick drum sounds...try the help file.  I would simply click the snare, kick, snare, kick, then copy and paste that as long as the song is.

Is that the EdirolVSC(DXi)?
I can go back as far as SHS4 (hopefully Sonar 2.2 is similar)
In the tool bar, click Insert>DXi Synth>EDIROL VSC.
Select MIDI Source Track, First Synth Output(Audio), and Synth Property Page.
Click OK.
At the bottom of your screen, select the Advanced tab. This should reveal Input, Output, Bank and Patch settings in the MIDI track.
You may need to drag the bottom of the MIDI track down to see them.
Set your Channel to 10: VSC GM2 Rhythym.
In Bank, select 15360-GM2 Drum Set.
In Patch (it should have an icon that looks like a 1/4" plug), select STANDARD1. This will give you the complete standard GM2 drum set.
Now in the tool bar, select Piano Roll.
The piano roll should open with the names of all the drums showing.
The first beat will be a blue line at the start of all the measures, and the rest orange. SHS4 opens to a default BPM of 100, and 4/4 time.
You can change these values in the transport at the top of your screen.
VERY IMPORTANT. Make sure you have the BPM and meter set to what you want before you record audio. The audio tempo cannot be changed after the fact.
When you export the project, select Entire Mix, and the click track should be included in the final wav file.
Some of your options in S2.2 may be slightly different, but that should give you the gist of it.

Hi folks, I have always used cakewalk pro audio 9 to play my midifiles through a roland sd50 in a live situation, but now i want to use a drummer. How do i insert a click track in my files to send just to the drummer.
