Sometimes I see people here posting pics of things they are doing. Here are some pics of a project I am working on now at my house. We tore out an old deck and are in the process of replacing it.I removed a door and rebuilt a wall with a rotten plate. We removed the door to make more room in the future room. I had planned to move the door around the side instead. I decided on stamped concrete instead of pavers(or another deck that can rot) for drainage and leveling reasons. It also made a very neat way to transition from the porch to the patio.

Last night I was busy getting an electrical conduit around the footers  to feed electric to my shed before they finish the last pour this week hopefully.

The first big project was the porch/gazebo which I did all the work on except the structural framing.  I did all the rest of the work including the gazebo.Covered the porch floor in grey tounge and groove azek. I also decided the concrete patio was best left to a professional but I plan to build the room on the new pad myself.

The are sequential pictures of the deck before we removed it. The back wall in preperation for the footers and pour. The finished stamped concrete and various views if it. The final pour is still not finished yet. I'll try to post those pics when it is finished.

 Now to build that studio......:)

I mowed my lawn.  Well, I had my kids do it.  Actually, I told them they should do it.  I implied it.  At least, I thought about it.  In a strict linear sense, they told me they had already done it.  They reminded me we had a lawn.

I said they should get off of it.

Very cool Star!
I like the stamped concrete and looks great in the photos.

I love construction work around the house. Wouldn't care
to do it for a living though.

Sure great to have plans and see them happen. Thumbs up!

Nice work. I also did alot of backyard improvements this summer, and will be posting pics soon. My goal was to have everything I wanted done and over by fall, so that next summer I can relax and enjoy it. Looks like your almost there.

Funny Bubba. Yeah I hate mowing the lawn too. I started out with a push mower but I didn't have the time to do it with a push mower,so I got a used riding mower and I ended up working on it more than mowing. Then about three years ago I said the heck with this and got one of those Z turn mowers. The kids might like one of those. It is almost like a go cart that cuts grass ;)

Now the trimming is the only thing I don't like to do. I get grass in places that are not comfortable and those little bugs all over me.I shouldn't complain really though.

Thanks Spacey and Randy. Yes hopefully by next summer I'll be ready for something. The room probably won't be ready but at least there will be a place to make a hamburger.I would love to see those pics Randy.

Spacey I know you are no stranger to these kinds of things either. Its to the point now where I feel strange if I sit down when I'm home.

I've got them accustomed to handling the yard work.  They're mostly conditioned to handle the snow shovelling in the winter unless it's really deep or extremely cold.

I found that seeing me recline near a window sipping hot coffee while they shovel tends to dampen their enthusiasm.  I thought it would help inspire them.  "Hey!  Look what sort of life is waiting for us once we finish shovelling 20 tons of snow!"  Sadly, it has not produced the desired effect.

That's why I sit and drink coffee from the other room.  Yeah.  I'm pretty thoughtful.

Bubba- Man I only wish I had a built in "workforce" like that. My son is not close any more so I don't get his help. My daughter is also busy and leading her own life.

In the fall when I'm out there with huge tarps moving tons of leaves I look  over and see my neighbor with his son and father in law helping him.....Yeah I might get envious sometimes lol.

In the winter a few amish kids stopped by to offer their help. I have the snow blower but I took them up on it that time. I could see myself using their help more often in the future ;)   20 bucks .vs a hurting back and an hour lost, make that an hour and a half I could be in the studio making music.
