What I didn't mention was that they often sell the wax melting pots at big box craft stores--- I was being cheap.  :)

Lots of people make their own candles-- Michaels and Hobby Lobby both have pretty large candle making supply aisles.  You could even buy coloring should you need. Oh, and scents, too.  You could have the best smelling guitar, ever.  LOL

(That IS what you're doing, right?)

I was hoping there wouldn't be much to it and not waste money but....

LOL I did think of the smell. Yes, the wax is for the pickups Julibee. It is suppose to prevent
microphonic feedback due to the components of the pickup vibrating.

I learned that it is very dangerous melting wax and it wasn't something I wanted to have to
stand over...that would be to much like cooking to me.
So I assumed it wouldn't be hard to find a tool that would melt and keep the wax at a desired
temperature...140f is what I wanted.

Location is an issue due to I have only electricity in my shop and nothing to heat with as this
required and did not want to be melting it in the house.

My requirements didn't seem like much to me. I was quickly surprised. Naturally some of the
problems were my ignorance but not being involved until now that didn't bother me as much
as finding out the amount of ignorance with the ones that are.

I've never cared for "idiot" gauges. Not my terminology but I can sure understand how it came about.

Well I found somebody that has been handling wax for many years and better still, paying attention.
Now I just have to wait. I think the one I linked to is perfect. I really like it having a drain valve too.
I post info about how the unit works and how the potting part went.

Believe it or not I still think I'm under what just the winder from Stu-Mac would have cost (400 US)
and I have the winder, 3 - 1lb spools of wire, Strat and Tele materials to build pups, misc. tools...
Now this pot which is about 80 dollars, the cost of a pup....I think it put me over the 400...
Not bad.....but I did leave out the stroke I just about had. Got so pissed at ignorance I probably lost
a year easily LOL.

It's nice to have friends that understand...my wife just writes me off as a butthead. :)
"Now be nice" is what she always tells me.....I love her. :)

Oh! Beauty supply stores, too... My best friend is an Esthetician and she keeps her little wax pots on all day.  :)

I did look at those -I don't think they get to 140°f. ...to bad they don't list the temps. Leaves
people guessing or having to buy to find out.
Did ya look at the one I picked out?

Yeah! I did.  It will absolutely do the job, I'm sure. But as I mentioned... I'm cheap AND I like instant gratification.  Hate waiting for something to arrive when I'm working on a project. ;)

Um, yeah, so, like, well...  Are there any more of you around?

Just curious...
