My only issue with Mercury was I could not tell which Inserts were active in console view. Still, looking forward to this returning journey of themes and UI customization.

Really???  Is it so hard to make the text contrast with its background?  I can't believe you put all this work into this nice new color scheme and forget these little details.

Mine are fine (they are dark letters on a light back ground)
your post is really a bit of a downer and negative don't you think???
I typically find its worth checking with others before jumping to conclusions.
I know your a good guy Lynn. but don't be on the defense man. have some faith.
someone did just mentioned this a few comments before yours.

I cant be sure but its worth a try. also remove any custom colors you already have now
(don't forget to back up your color scheme)

good luck

Mea culpa.  I didn't check the entire thread before I responded.  I did get it right by changing from bright to dark in preferences:colors.  I apologize to CW and all for being rash, and kindly refer to my sentiments in my previous post.  Again, thanks to CW for the new skin and all for your help.

I agree with M@ above:

If the Bakers could code the fader caps to match the colour chosen for the track, you wouldn't have to keep glancing down to be sure you were working with the correct track all the time ("Am I adjusting the volume of track #54, guitar (green) or track #55, drums (reddish)? I'd better look yet again.")

I'm hoping that wouldn't be very difficult to implement (?) and make things a little easier, which is always good :)
Besides, it would look pretty flippin' cool!

ya I can agree with that. to be honest though, after working with just the track strips colored today.
you get totally used to it. the color is still there. its just at the bottom and a lot smaller.
things also seemed more defined without the whole track being green, or yellow.
there are also more colors to pick from now.

Hi chuckebaby,

I agree that you can get used to it (like the Irishman said, "One can get used to anything, even being hanged", but I suspect he was quite a difficult Irishman), however, I also think that having the fader caps follow the chosen track colour would satisfy not only:

1) those of us (old, pernickety, vision impaired, perpetually impatient, habitually confused, etc.) who would like the work process to go as easily and smoothly as possible, but also:

2) those of us (fashionistae, cool as a fresh breeze, visual thinkers, cutting edgers, etc.) who would prefer that the beauty of the whole strip not be ruined by colour marring its entire marvellous darkness (but only a tiny but useful portion thereof)

:)

What I am referring to is having a color assigned to a track, both background and foreground,  and having every new clip recorded on that track, without having to select again for the new clip.

It has always been like that since X3, and a few people posted a feature request to bring back the option to specify track colors that affect both existing and new clips.

Hmm. I think the track colour not covering the whole strip is a bit of a drawback.

I thought the same at first John, but after a while, you get used to it.

I agree with John, and in my case I know that I won't get used to it, because for the first few months after its launch, Studio One 3 (that look quite similar to the Tungsten theme) didn't have the option to colorize the whole strip in the track view, and I didn't get used to it.

Yeah, it's just less functional. With the whole strip coloured, it's an at-a-glance thing. Without it, it's not. It's not really a question of getting used to it, unless you mean "you can get used to it being slower to read". Well, sure, but I don't want to. You can get used to having your arm in plaster, it's still not as good as a freely movable non-broken arm.

john, no one wants to have colors back in the strips more then I. trust me on that one.
but I can honestly say that not having the strips full color doesn't slow me down at all.
its more of a convenience and a very good one at that.
but back when they first went to color strips, did you really think you shaved time off your projects ?
or was it more of just a  "this is a great feature to have. because to be honest, with track names, icons, and general location its not that hard to really know where you are in a project. even with 50 tracks.

please don't get me wrong though, I really want the color strips back myself just like you.
Im also hoping for customization in the future with skins, or what have you.
so hopefully they re think the color tracks and add them back in.

PS- your broken arm comparison is redicules
