(Prog humor?)

I stopped by music shop today and asked if they had Four Riders Of The Apocalypse, but the guy working there said "No Dice!"

The journey continues...  Talk about some weird extremes!  Some of the music I'm hearing for the first time sounds great (Klaatu, Glass Hammer, etc.), some is, well, unpolished (e.g., Kamputter Hamster) and others must take awhile to like I guess.  I listened to the Karen Cooper Complex's Shinjuku Birdwalk album yesterday and most of it seemed like several kids each jumped on some gear and did their own thing.  I could almost hear a parent or neighbor yelling at them to stop in my head.  Here's one of the better samples...

Lots more to digest!  I can see how I'll still be working through these by the end of the world.

Just about to start my initiation to Hawkwind...  I've actually been busy helping a friend convert his store into a warehouse so lots of late night work and not much playing around with music by me!

I only have about 25 CD's from this band!

It's hard to suggest on this because they change so much ... but if I had to tell anyone ... try this ... it would be "Electric Tepee" from beginning to the end ... loud ... no breaks ... and hang on to the assault. And it ends with a simple jig ... to tell you about that band ... they are just a bunch of electrical indians/warriors with guitars!

Pieces I love dearly:

Space Ritual (the original) ... from beginning to the end! No breaks ... so you know what we saw!

Hall of the Mountain Grill ... the first 4 cuts back to back

Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music ... Reefer Madness and Steppenwolf ... both fabulous and totally excellent ... one can only hope to mix lyrics and work so well like these two by the late Robert Calvert.

Electric Tepee ... already mentioned. Ultimate blast off of Ambient and Hard Rock and Progressive Psychedelic sounds and music.

It is the Business ... more ambient. Odd ball cover in the album does not fit the rest but it was done with money to charities.

Pirates ... first 4 cuts non stop. Black Elk Speaks is powerful!
All in all, this is one of those bands that when I am not feeling well, or tired, or bummed that Bapu doesn't care, I just put it on, blast my innards out ... and I come out the other side feeling just fine!

Ohhh ... I carry about 3 CD's with MP3's of all these things in my car ... can't help it! One of my favorite blowouts of all time!

Listened to a LOT of Hawkwind and will be listening more in the future.  Now, after a few intermediate metal bands just for a change of pace, I'm listening to the Flower Kings just like Bitflipper.  I'm liking these guys quite a bit!

I picked up a few oldie moldies over the weekend.  I went to a very dangerous place--Amoeba Records in Hollyweird.  I'm glad it's not closer or I'd be more broke than I already am.  I found Flash--a couple of Yes alumns and the band sounds a bit like Yes.  I  also found Starcastle--another band that sounds a little like Yes.  I wasn't specifically looking for Yes types.  They just caught my eye.

I also picked up Cactus' Restrictions for a little variety.  I came pretty close to getting some Hawkwind, but I ran out of budget.  Next time.

Starcastle & Cactus...  Added to the list of bands to checkout!

What Flash did you get?  I've got three albums from them:  Flash, In The Can & Out Of Our Hands.  They've got one other that I know of that came out much more recently, but I don't have that one.

According to their new keyboard player ( www.rickdaugherty.com ), they're working on a new album. It was supposed to be released earlier this year, but wasn't ready.
