As president of the honorary Old Farts Society heretofore referred to as the OFS. A title I was awarded here. I tend to stay away from anything even slightly considered to be cool. Lancaster County Pennsylvania is a good place for me. I don't want anyone here to know I'm cool.

I never could understand why so many people from all of those cool places come here for the weekend to get away. Cool must get old after awhile.

Well said Mr. Prez.

I suppose the best/coolest things in life are still to be found.

Thats the joy of it.  Aside from the things we remember and repeatedly enjoy, when you are in the OFS you can enjoy the same things over and over again because you forgot it the last time.

Doesn't it feel good to be a part of this?

Isn't Houston still the murder capitol of America? Or is it Washington, D.C. now? I wonder if it factored into which was #1 and which was #2.

BTW, I'd vote for Homer, Alaska. Except it only qualifies as a "city" in that sparsely-populated state.

I believe that Philadelphia, Chicago and Detriot are in the shootout for murder capitol 2012. OF course, NYC leads them all but it seems to get a pass.

Man one of the worse things for me to do is go
to the dentist. I just hate everything about it.

Going to a city is very much the same.

...thinking about it I realize leaving them is
very much alike too.
I'm exactly the same way. As a matter of fact, I'm really struggling with moving to the Kansas City area. I've been having panic attacks, anxiety attacks, can't sleep at night. And my wife is telling me I have to find a job down there asap as soon as we get moved down there. The roads are so confusing, everything is jam packed together, people are the worst drivers I think I've ever seen anywhere, and I'm from Jersey! The drivers from New York and Delaware used to drive me crazy but they got nothing on these morons. You get on the highway and you pretty much have to floor it or you take your life in to your own hands. People doing 90, weaving across 5 lanes of traffic, whipping you the finger.

I wanted to see how the new Google GPS Navigation app worked on my cell, so I didn't use my dashboard GPS the last time I went to Overland Park. It took me a different way I've never been before, all through downtown KC at 4:30 on a Friday. It was the 7th circle of hell. :(

Actually New York doesn't even come close to cities like Chicago and New Orleans when it comes to murder. Its murder rate is now a fraction of what it was in the 80's and 90's.

It's no real issue to me but the FBI’s Uniform Crime Statistics for the first six months of 2011 for cities with 250K+ population listed NYC with 277 murders, Chicago with 184, Detroit with 173 and Philadelphia with with 158. I guess I could dig for the last half of 2011 but I am too lazy. My personal memories of NYC are from the 60's and early '70s.

New York is one of the most densely populated cities, thus you are bound to see a higher overall total of murders. A fairer measure is the per-capita rate, and New York doesn't come anywhere near top. It's way behind the likes of Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Camden, Newark etc.
