This is my first project with Sonar.  I had been using Roland's VS2480 which is another animal!
How would I know if the track has for some reason been archived?
Thank-you for your suggestions, I am very grateful to you. This is a problem I have to solve.  I was able to send a picture to the personal support response but they just acknowledged my email. They said they would get back to me.
Unfortunately, my free long weekend time is dissappearing for this project.

A track is archived if the "A" button is enabled.

Toggling the R button works for all the other tracks, but not this one.
 
This is Sonar Platinum! I cannot find an envelope that will allow me to delete.  I do not want to delete the track!
 
I wish I could send you a picture of this.

In the automation lane, right-click on the envelope and select "Delete Envelope."

Try this:
 
- Select the entire track by clicking the track number in the header.
-  Edit > Select > By Filter
- Click the 'None' button to deselect everything.
- Check only the 'Shape' box in the "Special" Events section.
- Hit Delete on your keyboard.
