Does anybody know or recommend the best Android and Apple iOS apps for controlling Sonar X3 remotely? I have both tablets and want to get started!

Not sure about iOS, but on Android the best is probably TouchDAW.

V-Control Pro for iPad is nice in that it both gives you the common shortcut controls and also a remote desktop style window. It's probably the most comprehensive option, but it's pricey, and may be overkill for you.

Some people are pretty happy with a free remote desktop app - provided you have at least Windows Pro it should work.

You can also use your iphone/android phone.

The best app is what you like. Mine is TouchDAW.

Thanks, guys.  Upon your recommendations, I went ahead and got TouchDAW and eventually got it working.  V-Control looks nice as well, but as some one mentioned, it is a bit pricey ($49).

For iOS AC-7 has been good for me.

I like AC-7 too.  Bit of a PITA to set up, but great when it's working.

It's not as comprehensive as V-Control Pro, perhaps, but it only costs around a fiver.

I rarely use it now, though.  If I'm tracking away from my DAW I tend to use my wireless keyboard.

Hi,

What a convenient control freedom these apps give us.

I use mine to handle recording mechanics from my music stands while recording sax and bass violin.  It's a godsend in terms of eliminating bend-overs and odd stances and six-bar click intros while trying to start a track in record.

I have found "DAW Remote HD" to be the total monkey paw for this stuff.  The Sonar interface is to die for.

If anyone tries it, I'd love to hear their thoughts.

I sat down last night, reistalled RTPMidi, bought DAW Remote HD (http://dawremote.com) and did manage to get it working with X3e under mackie control. I've got to admit, it's pretty sweet. Just having basic mix controls, mute, record arm, and solo (along with the transport) is very handy. Now I need to find the manual and figure out how to do punch points, markers, and the other goodies. It has buttons for EQ, dynamics, and some others, but I'm not sure how/what to map them to.

Anyone that's using TouchDAW please update some instructions, I never get to the "Done, you are now conected" lol
It's the creating the mackipart I think is missing.
